Use of "private" space by
Dodgysailor
I have had lunch for more than two years at the ferry terminal waiting room as it is closed from work and is nice and warm in winter. Today the manager told me that I could no longer do that as the waiting room is intended exclusively for the ferry users. Do they have the right to do that? They are arguing that other people may follow my example but no one has for more than two years. Am I being...

Didn't get paid in December and have checked the terms of the Lease and as it's all in legal jargon I am not entirely sure of the meaning of things. Basically my understanding is that 21 days after the rent was due we can regain possesion of the premises. Is this the case? All helpful replies welcome.

Erroneous Expert Evidence. by
freelander
Bill Harriman of Antique Road Show fame whilst acting as a firearms expert within judicial proceedings now admits he made a mistake in his report on my rare shotgun. Mr Harriman claims however, that he was not negligent. His governing body the CRFP on the 13th August 2008 took the view that a competent report from Mr Harriman would have afforded me the opportunity to save the costs of a trial. ...

shared access road by
paul currie
we have a small access road leading to eight properties on a small development. for the last twenty years all has been well with the odd pothole being filled in on an adhoc basis. as we have had more rain during the last three years some of the lower properties have had issues with standing water. six of the eight properties have bought the access road and have carried out "repairs" which include...

Dying Intestate by
KarinB
My o/h received a letter from a solicitor in 2004 informing him that his Dad had died intestate (he hadn't been in touch with him for a long time). My o/h had two sisters and a half brother and half sister. The half brother is the administrator of the estate. My o/h's Dad left property and money/pensions etc.. The house was put on the market but his half brother decided to move into the...

Paying for club outings by
Sommerville
If a club organises a bus to take its members on an outing, can it legally insist that everyone pays the same share of the cost even if, through no fault of their own, they have to make their own way there and back and never set foot inside the bus.

Diabetis and time off work by
Mark Peters
I am an insulin dependant diabetic and have been for 23 years. I have to attend the hospital every six months for a check up. My employer is insisting that any time taken off to go to the hospital should come off my holidays. She claims to have a law degree so everybody is frightened to challenge her. Does the disability discriminations act help me in any way?

Leaking roof still leaking by
Brian Williams
Hi all, your thoughts on this one would be most appreciated (i will try and be brief)
We have a garage where the roof tiles meet the main house wall. The join is flashing leadwork. So... this join has a leak and a mate recommends his pal who is a builder. In comes builder and tells me that the lead flashing is to blame. Replace this and job done. Builder does job (£270) and roof leaks worse...

Marriage and property by
George from England
A neighbour of mine has a marital problem. I will not give specific details that could possibly identify him to his other friends. He has been married over 15 years, but about 7 months ago his wife moved out of their house, and is renting a flat. As far as I know, there is no one else involved. They are not divorced. He is nearing retirement age, and still has a small mortgage on the house. While...

Paying For A Funeral by
KarinB
My 91 year old Nanna died last week and discussions took place with immediate family on Wednesday about her funeral. It turns out that she had paid £1000 towards the cost of her funeral but obviously this won't be enough. My cousin, who was more or less brought up by our Nanna and was very close to her offered to pay the remainder. My uncle (who is the husband of my Nanna's daughter) said, no...
