... Adrian, If you cannot grasp why a person would prefer to deal with matters of this nature in writing rather than over the telephone then your replies are of no interest to me and I urge you to go 'help' someone else. Almost all sites which give debt advise advise NEVER to have any verbal dealings via the phone and to put EVERYTHING in writing. Should it go to court you then have an "audit trail" as to exactly what has happened. |

Just don't confirm who you are and they can go no further, and if you have the right mindset it can be great fun to annoy the people who have been deliberately annoying you.. -- Mike_B As indeed the bailiff who turned upl ooking for the precious occupant for a parking fine probably felt when I offered him the only part of the car that had been left. Its not very funny when your a small business and idiots like that screw you over , often means the business goes to the wall or as i have had to do let staff go Any business that gives unsecured credit of 20k to an individual deserves everything they get, but especially credit card companies. |

Quite often the latter 2 |

"Sean" wrote in message ... Hello, I have a debt collection company (Mercers Debt Collections Ltd) keep calling me on my mobile. I have written to them twice saying I will cooperate in full - but only in writing. Please do not telephone me or call to my home. They called me today (again) and said they will continue to call, despite my requests, until an arrangement has been made for payment. Although they have not telephoned after hours, and only 3 times in 2 weeks, I do believe they are pressurising me into doing something (discussing the matter on the phone) that I am not obliged to do - which to my untrained eye, seems to contravene the terms of the protection from harassment act 1997. Are they doing anything wrong by telling me they will continue to call me against my wishes when I have told them I will co-operate in writing, promptly and in detail. the 1949 wireless telegraphy act makes it a criminal offence to telephone someone after they have instructed you not to. notify them under the act of this, tell them you will expect all correspondence to be carried out in writing. http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk...ment-laws.html cheers james |
