Default Argos-Refund exceptions ?

Can anyone help on this. My parents bought a Bed heated Mattress
Cover from Aros two weeks ago, and they are insisting that only one
side is heating- ie its faulty. took it back to the store with thr
receipt, and Customer assistant said that "Due to health issues
certain items were not covered by the 30 days return policy and this
item could only be repaired or replaced- not refunded.". Can I insist
on a refund ???
Thanks

I would have thought that 2 weeks falls within a "reasonable time" for such
an item, so they can demand their money back.

That 30 day return policy applies to items that the customer decides he does
not want for whatever reason. It cannot apply to items that are faulty
where a statutory 6 month period applies.

Yes. The Argos employee your parents spoke to was incorrectly
thinking of their policy of allowing the return of an *unwanted* item.
Your parents are in a completely different position because they are
returning the item due to the fact that it is faulty, not because they
have changed their mind.

That 30 day return policy applies to items that the customer decides he does
not want for whatever reason. It cannot apply to items that are faulty
where a statutory 6 month period applies.

There is no "statutory" period that applies in this sense.

The only statutory significance to 6 months is that any fault that
occurs within that period will be assumed to have been inherent unless
the retailer can show otherwise.

Then surely there is a statutory period. They are claiming that the blanket
is faulty.

Then that 6 month period is, ergo, a statutory period.

My response was as complicated as it needed to be for the OP's purposes.
