Sickness whilst pregnant/maternity pay/rights

Default Sickness whilst pregnant/maternity pay/rights

My wife is 12 weeks pregnant & currently very sick due to said pregnancy.
She works 3 days per week and the work can be quite physical - as such she
has had to take several days off sick as she has literally been bed
ridden/vomitting. She has been with her employer for ~9 years and has had
very little time off for sickness in that period (maybe 5 or 6 days total).
If her sickness continues (as it can sometimes for the full term of the
pregnancy) what would be the best way forward if she is still unable to work
?, what would her rights be in terms of maternity pay ?...

She should speak to her union rep about it.
What about being temporarily moved to a different job in the company?

There is no union or rep, there are only 8 employees and there are no
alternative roles...

You will need to see your wives company's policy on pregnancy etc...

Having more than 5 employees they will have a health & safety policy, so
should have some HR policies in place for pregnant women.

I am sure the sickness will not affect maternity allowances.

I assume as they have more than 5 staff they have a safety policy & have
risk assessed your wife as soon as she told them she was pregnant. The
employer must do all it can to keep your wife / partner safe at work.

Pregnant women in the workplace are the holy grail under health & safety.
