From the Daily Mail, Friday, 28 Nov:
"Within minutes of the news of Damian Green’s ‘Stalinesque’ arrest breaking at Westminster, dark questions were forming in the minds of the Tory high command. "Namely, just how involved was the Home Secretary Jacqui Smith in a decision to arrest a man who had been a thorn in her side for the past 14 months? "And, even more worryingly, was this the final proof - if any were needed - that Labour has turned the police service into a political beast, defending the Government’s interests at every turn? "The fact the drama all unfolded on the final day in office of Sir Ian Blair - probably the most politicised Met Commissioner in history - only added to the intrigue. "Certainly, it is inconceivable the police did not inform the very highest levels of the Home Office that Mr Green was about to be pulled in. "What is also true is that the leak inquiry that led to yesterday’s arrest began within the Home Office itself." More he http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...ng-police.html MM |

It's enough to make you throw up - new liebore i mean. I don't know what is more insidious and worrying, the fact that a supposedly democratic political party is prepared to use the police in this draconian manner, or, that the police are quite prepared to be so used.
If I were cynically minded I could suggest that because the plods have been used for quite a while as heavy-handed tools of the nanny state that the "them and us" feeling is now accepted by both sides and thus the police are now quite happy to be mobilised against the "enemy". It's been quite a while since they were a civilian police force, they have been tooled-up to face or force anything that is required of them. |

Maybe the British Army will help... Where is Prince Charles when you need him? He is well-versed in making statements that wind up the Establishment. Let him come out and speak in favour of us knowing the facts that the government tried to hide. I'm sure he cannot possibly be a fan of New Labour. MM |

The only problem with Prince Charles speaking out is that both politicians and anti-royalists then jump on him for making inappropriate political speeches, the message is often forgotten.
there are also some of us that remember how charles aspired to be a tampon. Set your sights low........................... |
