Refund or walk out! by
sndevereux@pensbyboys.wirral.sch.uk
Can someone have a go at settling this argument. I bought a TV from
Currys in January, and it now no longer gives a satifactory picture.
Took it back on Monday(Bank Holiday), with receipt expecting refund.
Manager said he could only send it back for repair. I quoted SOG act
and said it was my decision to have a refund. He refused. What should
I have done in the Shop. My wife said if I left the TV...

Consumer Law: Faulty Oven. by
Walter Wall
This is not a hypothetical question but a request for advice based on a real
oven with a real fault.
Seven years ago, I had my kitchen completely refitted. Included in the
refit was the usual collection of kitchen appliances.
It became apparent very quickly that food was coming out of the fan oven
vastly undercooked. A quick check with a thermometer revealed that the oven
was taking a...

A £6,000 sculpture was part of an exhibit in a display at the Royal
Academy's summer exhibition curated by Tracey Emin - someone knocked
in to it and it broke.
A spokeswoman for the Royal Academy confirmed there had been an
accident and conservators were deciding on the best course of action.
Pictures of the incident's...

ID Cards: The Home Office Student Propaganda website by
MM
I normally don't cross-post, but in this case I'm making an exception.
The Government has set up a website in order to brainwash students
into total acceptance of the national identity card. It's a revelation
to me that such a huge number of students (apparently, you have to be
in the age range 18 - 25) are so scathing about the ID card and the
blatant propaganda exercise that www.mylifemyid.org...

Stale Cheques by
Alasdair
It has always been the case that if a cheque was not presented for
payment within 6 months of its date of issue, it became "stale" and
the bank would not pay out.
My business partner was told by a bank clerk the other day that the
rules had now changed and a cheque was valid without limit of time.
Does anyone know anything about this?

Legal Will! It's that easy! by
Matt C
LAWPAPERSZONE.COM
If you dont have a valid Legal Will a Court will ultimately decide the
manner in which your estate is distributed upon your death and will also
determine other important matters such as who will be awarded the
guardianship of any minor children that you may have? The only way you can
ensure that your assets are distributed in the manner in which you would
have wanted is...

Holiday entitlement for foreign workers in the UK by
PhilHibbs
Does anyone know what the law says about foreign workers in the UK,
working for a foreign company, and their holiday entitlement? Is their
employer required to give holidays in the same way as UK nationals
would, or are they covered by the law in their home country?
Phil.

Accelerated Claim for Possession N5B for an AST by
Private Enquirer
I have made what I hope is a straight forward possession order application
following the breakdown in communication and failure to pay rent from my
tenant. I served the usual Section 21 notice by hand on the original named
tenant on the AST - a single mum with one young child living with her at
home (child is a minor and NOT a named tenant). I am not wanting a hearing
to discuss rent...

Pervs chemical castration cure
By VINCE SOODIN
CHILD sex fiends are being offered chemical castration to ‘cure’ them.
Jailed paedophiles will be given drugs which reduce their testosterone
levels to that of a pre-pubescent boy – a similar effect to
castration.

People are suggesting that the ID card will be mandatory in order to receive the state pension by
MM
Anyone got any details? It seems a pretty obvious next step, since
first foreigners, then students are going to be getting the card. If
students could not get a loan with an ID card or maybe not even a
place at uni, then the card is effectively mandatory. The step after
that is pensioners.
A nice letter from that kind lady at the Home Office drops on to the
door mat:
Dear Mr Bloggs,

Ideas For the 2012 Olympics Ceremony by

Whan I was a kid, I used to go regularly to see the changing of the
guard and military tattoo - as a grown-up one of my favourite days out
was to the good old airshow with Red Arrows and paratroopers.
Whatever else we have been rubbish at, our military has been the one
thing we are reliably 'good at' - the tattoos are spectacular and
impressive. Russkies and Chinese might like to parade missiles...
