Minibus hire company backs out of arrangement. by
Peter Crosland
I have arranged to hire a minibus for an outing of a Church group on
January 3rd 2009. The Bolton Woods Community Centre had agreed for me
to hire their only minibus, and I know a council approved driver.
Everything was set, all 14 seats are taken, and the the trip was
eagerly awaited.
Today, the Community Centre have telephoned me to inform that the
minibus is no longer available...

I was unable to avoid the cone becuase of a HGV on the other side of the

'Police Should Not Be Accountable' - Sir Ian Blair by
Turk182
The former Met Police Commissioner Sir Ian Bliar claims the Brazillian
Jean Charles De Menezes was taken out "in the fog of war". He sings
from the same songsheet as Sharon Shoesmith as he now says nobody
was"personally to blame". He went on "This endless search for a
scapegoat is very unhelpful. It has become a feature of our system
but, in the end it gets us nowhere.
The message we can...

Hello everyone
This is cross-posted to uk.legal.moderated as I'm not sure how the
vetting of messages on that group works.
We've just had a letter from a client of ours which purports to give
us rights to some software that we wrote for them under an original
contract where all IP in the work was vested with them.
The letter is very short and states only:

At the Population Level by
judith
I frequent that rather odd place uk.rec.cycling - one of the phrases
which is used time and time again is above - as in:
"No-one has ever proved that cycle helmets make cycling any safer at
the population level"
"population-level studies that show little or no positive
effects of large secular changes in helmet wearing.
despite asking what people think the phrase means no one has said.

People should ignore signs telling them that it is legal to urinate in
certain public places in Nottingham, the city council said.
The signs, which were put up by pranksters in and around Nottingham,
are designed to look official.
