OT Accidents mentioned on an insurance quote. by
James
We just got an insurance quote from Budget.
On the part "Claims and Losses, Claims, accidents and unclaimed losses in
the past 5 years for all named drivers" there are 5 cases of accident damage
listed.
2 of which are over 5 years old, why they are listed who knows but they did
happen.
The other 3 are dated about 2 years ago, but no vehicle we have owned was

Has my company behaved illegally? by
Williamashmarsh
I work for a large company, who have set up a legal department, whose sole role
appears to be to prevent workers obtaining rights under EU laws. I phoned their
office to question the terms of the contract I was being offered. I was
disturbed that the person who was talking to me repeated things I said in a
misleading and incorrect manner, I even said to him at one point "who are you
talking to? -...

Overpayment by ex-employer by
Dan
Hi,
Nearly 4 months ago I left a company expecting to receive 2 weeks unused
holiday allowance payment & also some overtime etc, this was paid (£500)
into my bank acct and was spent, as I thought it was mine. I received a
letter a few days ago telling me it was an overpayment and they want the
whole amount back by cheque asap.
I cant afford to pay it back all at once like that, so before I...

Negligent Solicitor/s? by
smicker
In June 1999 a Judge ordered that a handwriting expert should examine
and copy of my late mothers signature against the only known (to me)
copy of her signature. A few days later my solicitor, who had not been
acting for me after the first hearing in front of a master,
unexpectedly gave me copies of my mothers signature he had had all the
time and I had never seen. I was not able to get these new...

Local Authority Duty of Care by
happy@home
If a local authority implements a road scheme that is arguably more
dangerous than what existed before. Would they be failing in their
'duty of care'.
If yes then would legal action be an option now? ( If so what)
Or could legal action only be an option after an acident occurred?

Withdrawing from an agreement by
glynderi
Some advice, please on withdrawing from an agreement (made in an email
to a small club) to maintain a website.
Can I give a month's notice to withdraw? I'm quite prepared the
remaining (small) pro-rata sum for the 4 months concerned.
Thanks

Dodgy "Claims Assessors" by
Chris Parkinson
Hi,
I am being set up for a £5.000 claim from a customer. The claim is a
complete load of cobblers - but then I would say that would'd I! :-)
I don't want to go into too much detail because the persons involved,
ie myself and the claimant and the "claims assessor" could be
identified and that would not be a good idea methinks!
Anyway lets just say I do a very specialist sort of vehicle...

Malicious cancellations on uk.legal by
Tom Moore
All posts in a thread I tried to start, appear to have been cancelled,
presumably on behalf of Cook & Partners (using their own, or a different
trading identity).
Can anyone confirm that this, and all nine follow-up responses were
cancelled? Is it possible to discover who tried to alter history, or the
service provider used? Any idea how and why someone cancelled the entire
thread?

how does doing bankrupt effect other directorships? by

No matter how much work *they* do, *you* will still be a shadow

Do CAB accept donations? by
Lee J. Moore
I'm just helping my deaf uncle through a rather frightening (debt./identity
theft/fraud) legal situation after he had the legal aid door slammed in his
face by all local solicitors, and had to resort to the local CAB.
A lady from the deaf institute has kindly volunteered her personal time to
assist me and CAB staff in communicating with him and, of course, we've
already been a considerable...
