Neighbour trouble by Neil
Hi, I'm wondering if you can offer some advice on the following problem. We have a housing association tenant across the road making a nuisance of himself by running a car repair business from home. He currently has three cars parked in the road and only one is taxed and I guess none are insured. On one occasion a car had been left up on bricks with no wheels on for several weeks in one the...

Renting out a room by Man-of-Kent
My sister owns a 1 bedroom flat (95 year lease) and wants to continue to live there but to rent out the lounge to a lodger, the room effectively to be used as a bedroom. Is this legal ? Are there any implications with regards to insurance or liability ? (bearing in mind that neither the landlord or insurance company will not be informed as no structural changes will be made)

Made up invoice advice by David Greenlees
I would like to ask advice for a friend. My friend has been working "off the books" for two years for a franchise. He has not been claiming any benefit and he hasn't been making any NI/Tax contributions. He had asked his employer several times to be employed on the books but the employer has refused. His pay has been inconsistent varying on the whim of the employer. He has stayed there...

new terror threat in airports by Dudley
Yesterday The Washington Post published an article which said that from various intelligence it has been learned that Al Quaida are planning another attack similar to 9/11 later in the summer. There has been advance warning and also the results of a government analysis of what went wrong re 9/11. Many people have tickets to visit the USA during late summer. Because of this

Credit card on-line purchase. Company gone bust. by Colin Wilson
Cross-posted from uk.legal - Sam might like to comment ( The Overclocking Store) (his partners left - one went on to make www.tekheads.co.uk). Try checking on uk.comp.vendors about this statement - tekheads is run by Sam, a regular poster there, and has a sister company IIRC with a very similar name. He has an *enviable* reputation for service.

Credit card on-line purchase. Company gone bust. by James@DVD-Critic
gah posted after re-reading The Registers post "The scuttlebutt is that two important members of staff left the company and the owner couldn't cope on his own. We understand that The OverClocking Store is being put into voluntary liquidation, and, according to one source, all outstanding orders will be processed. " That's where I got my idea above from. If it is inaccurate, then it's...

Legal resident status of African Smuggled Dole scam children by System Prompt
I've been watching the Canadian news tonight (I'll wait for the laughter to die down now). Ok, can I begin again? They were reporting from London England about how an investigation into the discovery of an African childs torso in the Thames two years ago led into the discovery of a child smuggling ring whereby children were smuggled into England from Africa (Nigerian?) and used to pad Dole...

Putting up political posters in public places? by Rhys
Would putting up political posters in public places such as car parks, bus stops etc be an offence? I'm wondering if the police could charge someone with vandalism/graffiti charges somehow? Any ideas?

Credit card on-line purchase. Company gone bust. by Peter Crosland
Now that the company seems to have ceased trading, is there any chance that I can get my money back? I have contacted my Credit card company and they are non committal. They are supposed to be sending me some forms to fill out. Assuming it is £100 or more the credit card company are liable. They don't like it so keep on at them until they credit your account. Note that charge cards such...
