Online direct debit mandates? by CheggersPop
If you sign up for a service, such as car insurace, online and part of this process is a direct debit mandate, should the company be able to provide you will a copy of this if requested? swiftcover are stating that as the application was online, they can't provide me with a copy, however if I'd physically signed the DDM they'd be able to trace it and make a copy available.

It just sudddenly struck me that Osama appeared on the scene at about the same time as Diana departed it? Could they be one and the same. An excellent disguise for someone who wanted to disappear from public life. What do you think?

Vets bill and insurance excess conundrum - advice appreciated by chuckles_the_scary_clown@budweiser.com
Any advice gratefully received on this (soon to occur I'm sure) event. We bought a somewhat expensive kitten last June; he came with three months complimentary PetPlan insurance. We chose another insurer in the September, primarily because not only were their premiums competitive but for an extra 65p a month we were able to reduce the policy excess to zero. For eleven months, the kitten/cat...

Wasting Civil Servants' Time by quickly
I know about wasting police time - is there a similar offence regarding Civil Servants? David Cameron today increased the pressure on Gordon Brown to reveal if he is planning a snap election by calling on the prime minister to allow senior Tory frontbenchers to meet civil servants in preparation for a possible handover of power.

de Menezes and Occam's Razor by Dave Baker[_2_]
It strikes me that there were only three possibilities for someone coming out of the block of flats where de Menezes lived on the day in question. 1) They are positively identified as being the real target, Hussein. 2) They are positively identified as NOT being the real target, Hussein. 3) They are not positively identified either way. What should the police have done in each...

Mutilate and slaughter those who insult the Buddha by Svenne
Buddhists are as up in arms as they can get about a disrespectful statue of the Buddha. After the insulting statue was put on public display a spokesman for the Buddhist community was persuaded to say: "In Buddhism, no symbol is absolute and all symbols are a means to an end, not an end themselves. "We tend to go beyond anger and hatred, so there would be no threat of

Charging extra for goods after delivery - legal Q by Dave[_2_]
Hi, bit of a long post... back in July I ordered an item from a well known mail order company using their website. As part of this order I used two discount vouchers - one for 10% and the other for £25. The item was delivered a few days later and the total order value was £45 before discounts. (I accept that was a large discount on that order, and they may have made a loss on it)

Alex Heney S.O.G.A. 'acceptance' theory anyone???? by JethroUK
Alex Heney has just being trying to sell me his insane theory of Sale of Goods Act - This being that *nobody* gets a refund, for *any* reason under SOGA once they have 'accepted' the goods I'm sure there is an element to what he says (he obviously read something, somewhere), but in his lack of understanding he has extruded it to fairy tale proportions To emphasis how ridiculous this is I...

Porridge Wog pretended : The new law, which was passed by parliament two years ago, offers Muslims similar protection already offered to Jews and Sikhs under previous racial equality legislation.
