Just saw their add on the TV, thought what's that? Found their website, it was very vague, nothing there about who they were or how they started or why or anything. Turns out it is Scientology apparently. Barstewards.

Duplicate refund by Guy Snape
I changed gas provider recently, and the old one sent me a letter with a cheque for the credit balance remaining on my account. An identical letter and cheque just arrived in the post, so obviously someone's made a mistake. Each cheque is for a few hundred pounds (I must remember to send in meter readings in future). Where do I stand legally? If I deposit both cheques, is it theft or fraud...

Baby P - not only in the UK by Svenne
A trial has just ended in New Zealand with three adults, including the childs mother, being found guilty of horrific abuse resulting in a three year olds death in a case very similar to the killing of Baby P. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7734932.stm I wonder how the sentences handed out in the two cases will compare? Bitch by Nicole[_2_]
I wouldn't give her the excuse of having mental handicaps, I've heard some of the things she's said on her facebook and friends reunited profile and she is quite frankly stupid but the things she says are not unheard of or even extraordinary apart from being really, really chav like and stupid. She says things like "Sorry I haven't been online for a while, all last week I was busy being a dirty...

Builders Estimate versus Quote by Dekan
I had some minor building work done on my house by a tradesman who gave me a estimate (verbal and written ). The work was supposed to take 2 full days, he actually completed the work in only half of the estimated time, and the job by his own admission was much easier than he thought. However when he presented his final invoice the bill was the same as the same amount as his estimate it had not...

AOL involved in 'fraud', stealing internet speed from customers. by Turk182
As previously reported on this newsgroup, AOL are not delivering the promised service to their users. Just as with my own experience, in which AOL eventually admitted they were throttling down my internet speed, so reports are coming in from all over the country. I know AOL may have covered themselves in their t&cs', but the essence of the contract; the appeal of broadband speed as a sales...

Landlord Issues - Returning Deposit by AussieInLondon
Hi All, I'm a newbie here obviously, but have searched around on the forum to find advice about my situation but couldn't find anything specific. I just have a couple of questions that if someone could help I would appreciate greatly. 1) Our landlord never provided us with details of the deposit scheme our deposit is being held in. Our lease ended very recently and I'm having trouble getting...

let's hope they take this girl away for good by thedarkman
This slag Karen Matthews is a total wreck; she's twenty years younger than me and looks the same age, and I'm not in the best of nick. Her daughter has clearly been neglected; she has rotten teeth and is obviously fat. Let's hope they take her away, regenerate her and give her to a decent family. Talk about trash, seven kids by five different men. Anyone like to guess what sentence she'll get?

Crackdown on prostitution by White Spirit

The Metropolitan Police & ECHG, English Churches Housing Group 191108The Riverside Group by You For It
The Homophobic Hate campaign by English Churches Housing Group (ECHG),Hammersmith & Fulham Council and The Metropolitan Police is still continuing – at the moment my tormentors think it is acceptable to run a Hate campaign and they do not think they have done anything wrong. The authorities know who I am, but they think it is acceptable for a group of people to run a homophobic hate...

"Spousal privilege" in the UK ? by Jethro
HI guys, what's the position regarding communication between a man and wife in the UK ? Can a spouse be forced to testify against their other half, and if so in what circumstances. Or does UK law have no concept of what the US tend to call "spousal privilege" ?
