VAT Threshold & Help Required by smokey
My friend has a salvage yard, he's been buying all types of materials and selling them on, his purchases don't have any VAT on at all. He's been advised that the threshold is about £65,000 until he has to go VAT registered and Company Registered. He will make roughly about 16% of this figure - £10,400. So basically he's been told that at the £65,000 point his sales will be split up like so...

Anthony Bournes questions to Mabon Dane by Mr Smith
I have been asked again to offer the opportunity to Anthony Bournes and anyone else to ask questions of Mabon Dane, which he will answer at h2009.com. As you know, Anthony Bournes brings Mabon Dane up on a regular basis on this newsgroup, this is an opportunity for Anthony Bournes especially to get issues off his chest and ask questions. Anthony Bournes did not take up this offer...

Small claims procedures? by BenF
I intend to take civil legal action in the county court against a trader for a relatively small amount (£30+)for ebay goods paid for but not supplied. There are several emails sent via ebay to show the court plus a copy of a recorded delivery letter giving the trader 14 days to return my money. My question is: once the claim is allocated to the small claims track, is it automatically dealt...

What constitutes "display"? by Alasdair
My tailor told me an interesting story. He, apparently, had a fixed penalty ticket for failing to display his tax disc on his car. He had put it behind the rear view mirror of his car clearly and conspicuously displayed in the top centre of the windscreen. The policeman told him it had to be displayed in the bottom nearside corner of the windscreen and a display elsewhere on the screen...

Question to Anthony Bournes Turtill & Dane by Paladin
This is a question to Anthony Bournes of Andover who posts under many names attacking Peter Turtill and Mabon Dane on this newsgroup. Why do you bully Peter Turtill and Mabon Dane all the time?

Doctors competence question by Fat Sam
Are medical doctors required to take some sort of annual profficiency test or assessment? Is there anything to stop someone from qualifying as a doctor based on current medical teachings and knowledge, and then just carrying on for the next 40 years treating patients based on medical knowledge that is becoming more out-of-date as time progresses? What about doctors who have qualified, then...

Database trial for hooligans by Paladin
A council and the police are running a three month trial where they will record names, age and why a young person has been stopped if they are deemed to be expressing anti-social behaviour. Under what legislative powers can the council and police create and run this sort of database?

BBC - Nazi Health Service to Deny Smokers Treatment by Paul Cummins

Latest windows XP updates first offered to install a windows verification tool, in the agreement it says this is optional. Dispersal Order by Mogga
These new dispersal orders seem a bit tricky. The police presumably have to decide on the spot what is antisocial behaviour. For instance they've decided that one group of children are not causing ASB but another group were. However if the people in the area consider both groups to be causing ASB so what gives? The definition of anti-social behaviour under the Crime and Disorder Act 1998 is...

mysterious transaction sent my account overdraft by letnidzien@yahoo.com
Hi there, I was buying a ticket from Ryan Air on Monday, 4/06/07 at 11:50am (I've got this time from the email confirmation Ryan Air sent to me). On Thursday I looked online at my bank account and I noticed the transaction from Ryan Air for £163 (although as I remembered it should be around £155). The biggest surprise, though, was to see that my account went overdraft and, although I could see...

Right to demand date of birth etc., etc. by Alasdair
I had a telephone call this afternoon. I have a feeling it may have been from a firm of debt collectors but I couldn't hear the woman who was speaking as her diction was very poor and she spoke from a very noisy environment. She asked if I was Alasdair and I told her I was. She then asked if I would confirm my address and date of birth. I told her it was none of her business and got rather...
