The house I gave to my late son subject to IHT? by
Richard Pertwee
My son was killed in a traffic accident recently. His house (now worth
around 600,000 pounds) was a gift I made to him 9 years ago. It is now
coming back to me but it seems very unfair that the money I originally
earned is now going to be taxed a second time. Is there any way to
avoid some of the IHT in this case?

Is planning consent required to recombine multiple dwellings? by
ukzxcvb@yahoo.co.uk
I'm buying a property that was originally built as a single detached
residence. Around 1973 planning consent was granted to convert the
building into a number of self-contained flats and this was done
(without any external changes - just adding some internal partitioning
and blocking off some internal doors).
Around 1992 a couple with an extended family bought the entire
property and it has...

Bedrooms in a council house by
Dave (from the UK)
Someone I know has a 2-bedroom council house for her, her husband and 3
children. The children are aged about 8-12, and are different sexes (2
boys and one girl.) I'm not sure of the exact ages though.
Is is legal for the council to insist she has only a 2 bedroom house?
Currently her and her husband sleep in the lounge at night, where
clearly they have little privacy, the two boys in one...

She has now received a letter from Barclaycard stating that "acting on

reduced her credit limit to £900.

Repealed Parking Laws by

Can anyone help please, I am having a big argument with the local Police and
I need some information which I can not find.
I am sure that Peter White the reporter who is blind, back in the early
1990's on one of the "Does He Take Sugar" or was it "You & Yours" programmes
or they may have been the same programme on Radio4 mentioned that the law of
parking on pavements thereby causing obstruction...

Holiday pay on leaving work by
Cast-it Admin
Can someone tell me what the 'usual' or statutory position is regarding
holidays pay if you leave you job.
Iknow someone who is about to hand in their notice not having had any
holiday time off this year, they think they will get paid half their annual
entitlement (20 says), but I have a feeling the employer need only pay a day
for each complete month you've worked that year less any time...

Assassination of the Pope by
St Peter
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/06/06/wpope206.xml
The above is a promising article that indicates weaknesses in the
security for Pope Benedict. The Pope is an enemy of Muslims, Protestants
and Liberals, he used to head the direct descendant of the Spanish
Inquisition and was a member of the Hitler Youth.
Noting the weakness in security I think one or two...

Murder suspect released without charge by
Gordon Smith
Tom Stevens who was arrested in connection with the Ipswich murders has
been released without charge by Suffolk Police. Note that only a small
mention is made in a regional newspaper of this news, not much publicity
has been given to the fact that this man has now had his name cleared,
nothing in comparison to the huge media publicity that tried to act as
judge, jury and executioner of this...

Citizens Arrest by
Robbie
I've just been listening to the local radio having a discussion about
making a citizens arrest.
How does someone actually make a citizens arrest? What do you need to do
to make a citizens arrest? I'm sure tapping the person on the shoulder
and saying "I arrest you" is hardly enough - surely the idea of
arresting someone is to prevent them from doing anything else.
Are you supposed to read...
