Extreme measures for the ultimate evil By Joan Collins Last Updated: 12:01am BST 19/10/2008 Save the whales, end poverty, feed the world. The list of things we must and mustn't do seems never-ending (as we haven't yet fed the world, saved the whales or banished poverty). This brouhaha can get irritating at times. I mean, no one wishes cruelty to animals, but man has been killing them for...

The MOBO awards by \(used to be\) Fat Sam
Would it be considered racist if we had a "Music Of White Origin" awards ceremony every year to sit alongside the current "Music Of Black Origin" awards ceremony? If the MOWO's would be considered racist, why aren't the MOBO's also considered racist?

Payment under protest: Please check this legal letter? by Alex[_4_]
My council have gotten a liability order against me for non-payment of Council Tax. An appeal is pending but I have been advised by almost all quarters to pay first and appeal later, even if I am opposed in principle to paying for debts not proven as due. Is it true that cheques paid under protest can be reversed at a later date? This is what my bank branch manager told me. Also, I note that...

DPP's consent by safety
Some laws require the DPP's consent before an indictment and presumably the DPP will liaise with the CPS. However, is the DPP truly independant of the CPS, in that if he disagrees with their recommendation the DPP can and will override it? Many thanks. Ray
