Judge fury as lawyers charge £100000 for a £265 settlement
14/11/2008
A top judge yesterday slammed the civil justice system after a case
that racked up £100,000 in costs ended with one side having to pay the
other just £265.
Giving judgment at London's Appeal Court, Lord Justice Goldring said:
"It appears the advocates lost all sense of proportion."

The Joys of 'List 99'. by
Webmanager_CritEst
Today, as happens, now and then, a recruiting agency contacted me,
regarding putting me forward for a P/T post, lecturing A Level, at a
local FE College, based on my online CV.
As is appropriate, I always indicate where there may be a problem, due
to a past 'computer offence' (without detailed discussion), but will,
of course, be more positive, should an interview arise etc etc.
A second...

Apology or explanation by
Frederick Williams[_3_]
When someone wins a libel case against a paper, the paper prints an
apology. If I won a libel case I wouldn't want an apology--I would
doubt its sincerity--but I would want an explanation of why the paper
told its lies. May someone who wins a libel case demand a (published)
explanation?

The victims - often flat-hunters - are asked to transfer money either to

Special Landscape Areas and planning by

Hello,
Has anyone any experience of gaining planning within Special Landscape
Areas? This is the first time I've been made aware of such a

standard search have found this?)
I'm not in any battle with planning, but yet again, they are taking
only one issue into consideration, and completely dismissing sound
economic and...

How Many Shares Does Somebody Own? by
Turk182
An individual tells me and a small group of others who he has owed
money to for a long time, that he holds 40,000 shares in an oil
investment - a company that was floated in the late summer. We suspect
he is moving his money around and giving stories to his creditors. At
one time he claimed he held 980,000 shares in this company, so
naturally we would like to discover what the truth really is. ...
