"unpaid" insurance certificate by
Alex
At 17:49:50 on 01/03/2007, Stephen (Sausagefans.com) delighted uk.legal
by announcing:
If you get sent an automatic (new) insurance certificate with your
new motor insurance quote, you phone to negotiate the price, fix up
the price, they say they will take the money (they have your cc
details and authorisation) and then don't are you still insured?
You'd best ask them.

Papers marked *TOP SECRET* from Stella Rimingtons diary by
tony
Stella Rimington briefed the PM about a supposed spy, telling the PM
that a Russian defector had confirmed that Mike Smith was not a spy,
Mike got 25 years for spying and the ****ing PM and Rimington knew he
was not a spy.
Sorta tells you why England stinks.

claim of right to continue to use land by
caroline.woodall@pilkingtons.com
We live within a council owned country park estate which is open to
the public. Our property is privately owned with its own boundry but
this boundry is effectively an 'island' within the park grounds.
In our deeds, we have right of access (as shown on a drawing in the
deeds) to access our house across the council's road.
The right of access we have is via a tarmac'd road which other park
users...

Legal status of crossbred plants by
Jethro
Hi all,
what would be the situation, under UK law, if someone was able to
crossbreed a cannabis plant with a plant from the nettle family. The
resulting hybrid would look very similiar to a stinging nettle, but
would have the capability of producing the THC resin. It's DNA would
show it was a derivative of the cannabis species, but would be the
only certain way to identify an immature...

Result: Repeat Prescription Periods Doubled - Unfair? by
Terry Fields
Many thanks to those who responded to the original posting.
This morning my better half rang the Patient Liaison people at the
PCT, to raise with them the problem of the 28-day prescription renewal
periods both doubling the cost for that minority that have to pay for
them, and that the policy being put in to effect on the ground wasn't
the policy that the PCT had promulgated.
The lady on the...

Two passports - legality by
Jethro
I am entitled to a UK passport, and one from another European country.
Is there anything in law to leave the UK on one passport, and use the
other to enter a destination state.
Assuming a round trip, then is there anything governing whether I
leave the far end with my UK passport, and enter the UK with my other.
Both passports would show the same name.

Building regs and conservatory conversion by
dg
The building regulations are quite clear about how they apply to
conservatories as new build, but not so clear as conversions.
A conservatory has been in place for a number of years, no problems
structurally. But if minor changes are made (which in themselves would
not require permission) how would the building regs come to apply?
ie is permission needed to carry out the minor changes, or...

That Unicef Report by
Uno-Hoo!
Much as it saddens me, this report from Unicef, placing the UK at the bottom
of a list of 21 developed countries for child welfare, simply confirms
everything I have been saying about this country since I began posting on
uk.legal.
The report points out that out of those 21 nations, UK children drink more,
take more drugs, are more promiscuous, and have more illegitimate children,
and are...

county court action, branch shop or head office? by
Chris Lewis
I have a problem with the mobile phone shop Phones4U. They appear to have
lost my phone which was handed into the shop for repair.
I keep getting the excuse that they will sort the problem out, but they don't!
I called in the shop today and told them that I will be commencing legal
action in 48 hrs unless I get my phone back within that time. They promised
to phone me back later today,...

Mobile phone renewal and distance selling act. by
David Day
Hi,
Just phoned up to cancel my contract with my mobile supplier, but was
persuaded to renew. I got off the phone, did all the sums a bit more, then
decided that it wasnt the good deal that was suited to me as suggested. They
are going to send me a new phone etc. Do I still have the sales of distance
act protecting me? When I called back, it was stated that it wasnt, as it
was a renewal, not a...

Legal question - Google and Trademarks by
danielb@w2s.net
I am an authorised retailer of a particular brand in clothing,
recently the said brand have joined up with another major retailer and
stopped their brand trademark from being used on Google by anyone else
apart from them
This to most people would appear correct , as they own the trademark
but.. in my case and many other retails no other brand has done this
and I am freely allowed to advertise my...

Muslims 'refuse anti-MRSA gel' by

empty, the staff don't use them at all, and I seriously doubt that 1 in
