In the eye of the beholder!
The malignancy has spread worldwide. We have received several images
seized by the police in Brazil and judged by them and subsequently by
the courts to be 'child pornography'. There is little doubt now that
the so-called protection of children has become a...

A compliant about false advertising on a website by
aidy
Hi,
If I had a complaint about a U.K. website infringing the Trade's
Description Act. Who would be the first point of call? Would it be my
*local* Trading Standards Office, even though the business may not
trade in my borough.
Regards
Aidy

Discontinuing a county court claim by
Dave Baker
Brief background. Plaintiff (P) and defendant (D) get into a contract
dispute and P initiates a small claim. D files a defense and counterclaim
but due to further court documents allegedly posted out that are not
received by him and therefore not sent back in time ends up with a default
judgement against him and the defense and counterclaim struck out.
Both parties subsequently come to an...

Child knife crime list snowballing
A nationwide police blitz on knife crime has contributed to an
explosion in the number of young people being held on a Government
database.
The details of hundreds of children and young adults are being added
to computer records by police, social workers and teachers every day.
Many young people come to the attention of police when they are

Just came past Woollies on the way home - end of an era by
MM
On the way back to the car park I passed our local Woolworths and it
has now been cleaned out! On Monday they were selling off the final
bits of Christmas tat and also the fixtures and fittings. Today
everything has gone. The entire store is empty, bar a few plastic
chairs and the empty pick 'n mix containers. Couple of staff or three
smoking a fag on the doorstep, but that's it. Gone!

Job site charging money *to candidates*? by
SteveR
I'm in the middle of a job hunt, and I came across a job-listing site
that charges candidates money to see details of "Premium Members only"
jobs and a collection of other services, including priority access to
headhunters. Basic members can only see one job in four (apart from the
"teaser" headline), and can't see the newest (less than 14 days old)
jobs either, which is going to reduce the...

Where's Tony ? by
Joe Lee[_3_]
Oh how we laughed (well, at least I did), when Tony Blair was appointed as
peace envoy to the Middle East on behalf of the US, Russia, the UN and the
EU.
I'm not laughing now that Israel is (yet again) exacting a terrible,
horrific & totally disproportionate retribution upon the innocent men, women
& children in Gaza, but just wondering where Tony is & why he's nothing to
say ?

Unluckiest Start To The Year by
Turk182
Back at the beginning of December my friends all asked me what I would
like for Christmas and I specified MFI Gift vouchers for my furniture,
Woolworths Gift Vouchers for my kitchenware and Zavvi Gift vouchers
for my audio needs. In the early hours of Christmas Day I awoke to
find Santa Claus placing the presents in the stocking at the end of my
bed. I jumped up, grabbed at his beard and pulled...

How can I hit back.....HARD by
Chippychap
Nearly 3 years ago we moved house.
The previous owner had died and the house had been modernised by a local builder.
We began receiving overdue gas bills for the builder. We contacted British gas who said if we didn't know where he'd gone to "forget it"
The bills got more and more nasty, again we phoned B/G as there were threats of legal action. B/G said legal action was name related and, again,...

Fall in number of prison suicides by

Fall in number of prison suicides
The number of inmates who killed themselves in jails in England and
Wales fell to 61 last year, according to new figures.
The Ministry of Justice said the total, including one female inmate,
was the lowest since 1995 when 59 prisoners took their lives.
The fall comes after concerns were raised about a rise in the number
of prison suicides to 92 in 2007,...

Exceptions to the disabilities discrimination act by

Can anyone help me regarding the disabilities discrimination act ?
I am a dyslexia correction facilitator, my query is about job
suitability and the expectations of employees.
I have two clients, the first is a groundsman who is facing dismissal
because he can't manage the recent demand for detailed paperwork due
to his dyslexia. The second is a police officer who is facing similar
disciplinary...
