Default Statute of limitations

In the US there is a statue of limitations on most crimes. I think
murder is the exemption. I was curious as to whether there are any
time limits on prosecution of offenses in the UK too?

This question is mainly brought about by my thinking about stupid
things I did when I was 18 (7 years ago). I certainly didn't think at
the time that I ever broke the law, but upon thinking about the past
recently there were probably a few things that verged on the wrong
side of the line. I recall for example using certain illegal
substances, being in a drunken brawl once and so on.

A further question, what if you where a juvenile at the time of the offense,
for example, imagine you commited a serious assault when you where fourteen,
when you are 22, you are arrested for something else, your DNA is taken, and
it is matched up with the crime that was committed when you where fourteen.

If you where taken to court, and you admitted your guilt, how would you be
sentenced? Remembering you where a child at the time..... Would you be
sentenced as if you where an adult at the time you committed the crime?
