It's not uncommon, for example in a divorce situation when one partner moves out of the family home, continues to pay the mortgage on it, and buys a new home to live in with another mortgage. There aren't any legal restrictions on how many mortgages one can have. It's more a question of whether the lender(s) believe that you can afford them. Obviously, you need to be honest and declare an existing mortgage when asking for another: not doing so would clearly not be legal. Mike. |
