Hi all,
I have a red covered European Community, United Kingdom of Great Britain, and Northern Ireland 10 Year Passport, that runs out on the 27th May 2007. I was born and live in the south of England. I want to go to Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, on the 24th February returning on the 3rd March. This is all before the Passport runs out, but a friend has said they may not accept it becouse of the run out date. This will be the first time I have used it, and am unsure what to do, any advice would be welcomed. Thanks, Mick. |

Check with their embassy. Peter Crosland |

Check the UAE consulate website - many countries will want you to have 6 months left on your passport after your date of return. (USA is one) Not a problem if you renew now as they will add on the unused term to your new passport. |

You can renew it up to 9 months in advance and get the full credit for the unexpired period of your old passport. |

Next problem is it seems I cannot take the new photos myself, and print on my inject printer! Thanks again, Mick. |

Leave it much longer and you will no doubt have to provide you DNA and fingerprints to those who run our Police State. A |

I took one in a photo booth in Woolworths which was rejected by the pre-check at the Post Office. Rather than risking a second time I went to a local chemist who was used to taking such photos. If your photograph follows their published rules to the letter, are they allowed to reject it? For example, if you were take the photograph with a very wide angle lens with your head close to the camera. This would satisfy all of the 'rules' on the passport application but would give an image with barrel distortion similar to that as seen through a door 'spyhole'. |

The photo-booth type are perfectly all right if you follow the rules. Get an application form in the Post Office - there's a leaflet included explaining exactly what they want. (The photos don't need to be countersigned if your appearance hasn't changed too much since your last passport.) The Post Office do a check and send service for a few pounds extra. |
