Default rights of "next of kin" under mental health act?

What rights and responsibilities does a next of kin (as defined by the
Mental Health act) have?

I'm especially interested in any rights to visit the patient in a
mainstream (not MH) hospital, at the request of the patient, outside normal
visiting hours when the patient has been detained under section. (And is
it any different if the patient hasn't been detained, but would be if they
attempte to leave?)
