Hi all, hope someone can advise on this problem.
A friend of mine has recently booked a skiing holiday in January through a booking agent on the telephone. He has just had a confirmation letter from the actual holiday company with a note stating that he had acknowledged that there would be large groups of school children resident at the hotel for the duration. He is not completely averse to children but would rather not stay somewhere if there are large groups of them as this was meant to be a relaxing break. Upon phoning the booking agent, they stated that they didn't know anything about groups of children and my friend would need to take it up with the actual holiday company and that cancellation would be subject to 65% of the cost being forfeited. Upon phoning the holiday company, they stated that during the online booking process, you have to tick a disclaimer box to acknowledge the fact that the children will be present during your stay - I tried booking the same hotel and this was correct. Upon phoning the booking agent again with reference to this, they said that they may have neglected inform him of this but it didn't make any difference anyway as it wasn't their fault. Both companies are ABTA bonded. Any advice is welcome, Thanks, Franko. |
