Pothole on road. by
David R
Hello,
bad night for all concerned in my town. MASSIVE pothole in the road, I go
over it at 20ish, and my offside front wheel is buggered, along with
possibly the back wheel. Had to change the back wheel.
2 different vehicles go past and say 'that happened to me earlier' - so why
was I the only frigging person to shove a cone lying nearby in front of it?!
Anyway, I've got some rubbish camera...

The PRS, pubs and Sky by
Kevin ashley
In a discussion with the landlord of my local last night,
he raised a point regarding PRS payments which surprised
me, to say the least. I'm posting to see if anyone can shed
more light on the matter, although aware that copyright is
one of those areas where the light can be difficult to find.
As with most public premises, they get regular visits from
people from the PRS asking for payments for...

Knives etc legalities by
PhilC
I have lifted this from another newsgroup alt.fan.landrover and have edited
it but hope you will get the idea..........
Hi all. While wandering through the market recently I noticed that the
diy stall is selling machetes for a fiver. I'm not sure how long it was
but it must have been at least 8 inches blade. Seeing the usefulness to
clear green lanes I went to buy it, but the SWMBO said it...

Disclosure of driving convictions by
JM
Hi,
I'm changing motor insurers at present. On the phone, I was asked
whether I had any driving convictions within the last 5 years.
Now the paperwork has come through and it mentions convictions within
the last 11 years for drink related offences (I would be covered under
this for an offence around 8 years ago).
How does this square with the Rehabilitation of Offenders act and the 5

Blowing leaves by
psychman
Hi
Every autumn leaves from the golf course at the bottom of my garden shed
their leaves (especially the pesky non-rotting oak ones) all over my
grounds.
I round 'em up and pop them back on the course (not on the greens or
fairways of course!) and in due course the staff hoover them up.
However, I saw in the paper a householder threatened by their local council

Rental of Student House... by
Marcus Fox
In September, I signed a contract to rent a room in a house, there are
shared bathrooms and kitchen, but all the rooms have their own Yale locks
on. Not saying I want to move out right now, but I just wanted to know how
difficult it might be to move out with regards to giving notice and
returning of deposit.
Some things aren't right, for example - we are all students supposed to be
living here...

Credit card debt over six years old by
BruceB
I or my wife lost a credit card in Aug 00 which was replaced. The credit
card company has just told me, in Nov 06, that some of the debt, some
GBP350, was not transferred to the new card and that I should now pay them
it. I have had a look at some old statements they have sent me and it seems
possible that one charge was not transferred. I never realised at the time
because the whole amount...

Solicitor witholding inheritance by
Dribbler
Two years ago my boyfriends neighbour died leaving 50% of her house to her
three grandchildren and 50% to her son.
She also left many valuable shares to my boyfriend.
The house was sold, grandkids and son received proceeds.
Boyfriend received some cash from some of the shares which had been sold.
Two years post death, the boyfriend called the solicitor asking when he
would get the remaining...

Inheritance Tax form by
Kenny of the Fells
I'm in the process of completing an Inheritance Tax form - one of the
questions relates to joint assets. Where assets are jointly owned (rather
than in common) by husband and wife and husdand's will specifies that
everything goes to the wife, is this a transfer by survivorship or under the
will? Does it matter?
Thanks

New law re ageism by
JanieB
I have altered my CV to erase the parts that indicate my age. I have
actually had more interviews since doing this, although not yet
resulting in a job.
I was interviewed a few days ago and it was obvious that the gentleman
interviewing me thought I was ideal for the position, but he did not
have the last word. During the interview he asked me how old I am and
I told him.
My questions are a)...

Law schools in London by
Tristan Miller
Greetings.
Would anyone be so kind as to list, or direct me to a website or other
publication which lists, all the law schools in London? I am also
interested in learning which law schools are regarded as prestigious, and
which specialise in particular areas of law. The information is for the
purpose of helping a student who has a science graduate degree (but no
prior legal education) decide...

Commission-only salesmen by
Alasdair
Years ago it was very common to see advertisements for commission-only
sale people where the sales person was effectively self-employed and
paid a high commission on sales concluded.
I haven't seen so many of these adverts of late and wonder if there is
any legislation making this practice illegal. Does there have to be a
"basic wage"?

DH rejects patients' requests to stop their information being uploaded to the NHS data spine by
Nick
"The Department of Health has rejected patients' requests to stop their
information being uploaded to the NHS data spine.
On Friday the DH wrote to patients who had sent in a coupon from the
Guardian newspaper requesting to opt-out telling them that would not be able
to do.
The eight page letter from the DH to patients claims that much of what has
been written about the NHS Care Records...

A Foot Path in Ipswich that belongs to the council is now used solely
for vehicular traffic. The reason pedestrians no longer use it is
because of the danger from vehicles. The Foot Path is classed as a

Part 36 Offer? by
GB
I have had a pre-action demand for a fairly modest money claim (just over
130 Pounds). I dispute that this is due, but I was wondering about making an
offer to settle part of the claim before proceedings are issued.
If I do this and 'beat the offer' will I avoid liability for all costs
including court fees and the standard 60 quid solicitor charge?
Can I make a part 36 offer at all at this...

Blocking access by
Simon Finnigan
Hi all,
what is the situation if someone where to park a car (on a public road)
blocking vehicles from entering or leaving a commercial premesis? I`m sure
I read somewhere that blocking access in one direction is against a law, but
not the other direction. Anyone know any more information about this?
The road in question has no special markings, yellow lines or similar.
Thanks for your...
