Overhanging Trees by
Kirk
Can someone help with anything that can help to remove a neighbours
overhanging Leylandii.
OK here's the detail... I have a boundary 6 foot high fence ( my
responsibilty from the deeds to maintain) and at the bottom of the garden
the two adjacent property owners planted twenty years ago a row of Leylandii
about 12-18 inches from my fence on their own land... Needless to say ,
prior to tall...

SPINE not thanks by
anthony
I wanted to make some effort towards preventing my personal medical details
being uploaded on the new NHS computer. Anybody on this group already
started taking steps? If so please let me know what you think is a good
course of action. Thanks

Copyright material in Forum postings by
cp
Hi
I am part of an on-line community that has a forum.
Some of the other forum users have started posting copyrighted material
in their forum signatures, in the form of cartoon strips.
Should the copyright owner decide to pursue for copyright infringement,
would the people who run the community or the company that provide the
webservers be liable?

Workplace Libel by
Jack.and.Jill
Posted in the other place as well.
A friend at work has a problem:
A member of staff (A) deals with another member of staff(B) on a daily
basis by telephone - they are in different departments in the same
company. Their telephone conversations are usually discussing
problems which are the result of a poorly implemented computer system
which (A) was involved in the decision to purchase and...

Parking Attendants by
rhgarland@googlemail.com
What is the legal standpoint regarding parking attendants working and
issuing fixed penalty notices on a sunday in a (mon to sat) ticket
zone?
My situation is that parked near my flat on double yellow lines on a
sunday afternoon. Although I have a residents permit and could'nt find
a space, i know that i should not have parked there, but the sign was
squint, grimy and unclear as it was dominated...

discretionary bonuses by
Jimmy
I'm probably flogging a dead horse here, so I'll try keep it short and
sweet. Basically, my company runs a discretionary bonus scheme. When a I
first joined the company 6 years ago, there was a loose verbal of agreement
of what the minimum amount to expect would be. It was one of the reasons for
the basic salary to be slightly lower than that of competitors. During this
time, the company has...

Fees for filing questionnaire. by
Alasdair
I am being sued in the County Court on a small claims matter. I have
filed a defence. I have now been asked by the court to complete an
"Allocation Questionnaire". Question H asks "have you attached the
fee for filing this allocation questionnaire?" Is there a fee payable
by a defendant to file an allocation questionnaire and if so, how
much?

How odd. Who did you talk to?
Does anyone here know the documents and associated document numbers
that I need to get from the court to begin my task?

council tax - hmo by
denis112@hotmail.co.uk
I was renting the room within a house which could be described as HMO.
The room was fitted with shower and fridge.
Toilet and cooking facilities were shared with others, and locks on
doors were installed.
Each of us in the house (approx 10) had separate tenancy agreement with
the agency for at least 6 months rental. There was no single word about

pension credit schema to retire early from work? by
Barry
Has any one used the pension credit schema to retire early from work?
http://www.thepensionservice.gov.uk/pensioncredit/
It only applies if you are sixty or over, and implies that I could just pack
in my job and claim this which gives £174.05 a week if you have a partner.
As I am sixty two and in a low paid job this seems a good time to retire!
But I would really like to find out if it is as...

Landlord repossessed by
af_99_uk@yahoo.co.uk
I'm currently faced with eviction (in less than two weeks) from a
rented flat by the mortgage lender. I have an AST which has several
months to run but I've discovered that the lender did not give
permission for the tenancy. I understand this means I have no
protection against the lender. The tenancy was set up by a letting
agent but they do not manage the property and have informed me that...

TV licence.....is it 'required'? by
Nick
http://www.tvlicensing.co.uk/information/index.jsp
Clearly says
'If you use a TV or any other device to receive or record TV programmes (for
example, a VCR, set-top box, DVD recorder or PC with a broadcast card) - you
need a TV Licence.'
but what if one were to watch a program using a recorder (for playback) and
a monitor only........ ie where there was *no* tv receiver / tuner.

Does anyone know how to locate the best copyright attorney in the UK ?
I don't mean to find just a good one - I mean how would I set about
finding one who may be considered either the best or one of the best by
their own industry?

Paedophiles - Strange But True by
the_constructor
I sent this out as a cross post but it doesn't appear to have got through.
So what is a paedophile ?
It is someone, either male or female, who feels sexually attracted to
prepubescent children
An often misused word to refer to both Child-Lovers, and Child-Abusers
alike.
In its original meaning, it simply meant to be attracted to children
(paedo).

Security tag set off shop alarm by
Middleware
I went to Tesco this morning and picked up a Dyson handheld vacuum
cleaner with my groceries. The box containing the vacuum cleaner had
a sticker marked "Security Protected" on it.
When I went to the checkout the operator opened the box and took a
look inside and then said "There's no security tag inside" I was a
bit suspicious but duly paid for the vacuum cleaner and groceries.
When I left...
