Flood wall causing flooding ? by
I'm the Bad Guy
I'm not sure whether anyone out there can give me some advice. I'm guessing it'll start with - Go & see a Solicitor - but if I could have afforded that, I probably would have !
I live in an area which suffered severe flooding last year. My house was built 100 years ago - 50 yards from a minor 'ditch'. In the 1980's & 1990's the planners allowed development in between our house & the ditch on...

Help with CCJ by
1337-kr3w
I have recently applied for a new mortgage, as my fixed rate was up. And was very surprised when it was turned down on credit (I have had any late/missed payments).
I have checked my credit report, and found a CCJ at my old address, one I had not been living in for 18 months at the time the CCJ was sent, and as such had no knowledge of it.
I have contacted the court, and found out that this is...

10 month old fan heater caught fire by
Adam[_4_]
I bought a cheap Prem-i-air oscillating fan heater (Model PF2002A)
from Debenhams for my garage's hobby workshop in the beginning of this
year to keep it warm. It was used on and off throughout the year as it
also doubles up as a fan when the heating element is off, and was also
used to force-dry clothes during the wet summer.
Recently, when I switched it on, the heating element glowed red...

Would you call this hit and run? by
Simon
Hello,
Today my wife gave a lift to a colleague to the bus stop, our 3 month old
baby was in the car chair, (in the back seat).
as she was driving down the road she noticed a small school bus on the side
of the road, she saw no kids, (it is a village road and it was stopped on
the side of the road, not at a bus stop or anything).
As she overtook the bus a kid ran out from the front of the...

Defense stroke out, How to Proceed ? by
pnlend@yahoo.co.uk
I started a court action against an estate agent who refused to return
the holding deposit of ₤275. They failed to file the documents they
would have relied upon in time, as requested by the court order.
Following my letter to the court, the defense was stroke out for non
compliance with the court order.
My query is how do I assess the damages and on which form should I use
to make this claim.

Scaffolding regs by
James[_6_]
Just wanted to get some perspective on this. I run a small voluntary
sector project in a building that has extremely high ceilings. One of
the smoke sensors broke recently when water dripped in to it. In order
to replace the sensor, I called in an electrician who said I needed to
erect scaffolding to get to it. Getting this done professionally would
have been costly, and a building firm next door...

A large bank by
Iain
Hi,
I opened an account with HSBC. This was done by phone. I was very specific
about not permitting any of my personal information to be passed to any
third party (except Credit Reference Agency). This was accepted, also with
reference to a manager, and the account was opened. This information should
have been added by them to my application details. The conversation was
recorded. I...

Hi All,
I would be very grateful for some legal guidence on where we stand on this

Apologies now if it seems long winded!

Public access to police caution details by
PHILIP WAGSTAFF
Can a member of the public access any details of a police caution? If so how?
The caution in question has been reported in the local press along with the fact that the police decline to name the person, yet have confirmed the person must also sign the sex offenders register.
Despite the police's refusal to publicly provide a name the press has directly tied it to a named local dignatory.

An employment law query by
The Wanderer[_3_]
Employee works with food in a cafe, small number of employees overall. She
becomes pregnant and almost immediately goes sick claiming she feels sick
all the time and can't be around food because it makes her feel worse. Now
been off for 3-4 weeks, with a doctor's certificate and there appears to be
no prospect of her returning to work in the forseable future.
Has she effectively made herself...

Contesting legal fees by
Neil Kay
What's the accepted/reasonable procedure to contest the legal fees added
to a debt? I am going to ask for a breakdown in the amount charged and
believe that if there's still a dispute you can ask for the fees to be
'taxed' - is that correct and what does that involve?
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks.

Unused / Unowned space in flat block by
mickeyblue1457
I own a top floor flat in scotland and whilst flooring out the loft have discovered a room/void of space between my bedroom and the neighbours bedroom. The room actually is directly above the communal close/stairwell.
I have a few questions:
1. Do I own the loft space ( i am the only one with access as the hatch is in our flat)
2. do I own all or part of this unused void space.
3. can i use...

Payment of legacy- Scottish Law. by

My Dad passed away back in May, survived by my Stepmother and two step

sent me a copy of his will with a letter stating that she was currently
"in- gathering his estate" and would be in touch "soon". As I'm not on
