Bonus payment after employee leaves by a@b.invalid
Anyone know how a case like this might get decided? An employee is on a salary and bonus contact. The targets to get the bonus are subject to change at any time, at the employers whim. Employee is given a target, which they manage to meet enough to merit a particular payment. Employee then leaves the company. In the time between employee leaving and bonus payment date company changes the...

Car tax. Paid for but not rcvd by Nick
My wifes car tax expired at the end of August. We went on holiday on 18 August and returned Sunday 7th September. 18 August I posted off the car tax reminder with MOT certificate, insurance certificate, and my cheque in payment. 1st class stamp. Done by post as I object to paying HMGOV anything more than I absolutely have to. On return home, no letter containing tax disc. Cheque cleared bank ...

Telephone number passed on ...... by JoeSoul
Hi, I'm a caretaker at a Junior school, basically work from 5.10 to 9.30 am, then again from 2.30pm to 6pm and obviously have a five hour break in the day when I am not at work during which I have a two hour nap to 'catch up'. As a matter of course I gave permission for the school to use and give out my mobile number to anyone so long as it was in connection with work. Yesterday the mobile...

Vehicles blocking private driveway by davidw
I would welcome any advice that could help my father. He lives in a cottage that is accessed by a private single track driveway. Alongside the driveway are three fields, two of which are rented to people who use them for grazing horses. The field leases allow use of the driveway for access to the fields. These fields have recently been sub-divided so more horses are being grazed there and more...

When do things on my land become mine by Mark BR[_2_]
If someone parks their car on my land (in Wales) I can take action to get it removed but it is not mine. If someone 'parks' a set of tyres on my land they become mine and I can deal with them in any way I see fit. Why doesn't the car become mine, or do I have to wait a certain length of time? --

Claiming financial losses from Parents of a minor by APH
Good afternoon. My first post, so please go easy on me :) Cutting a long story short, a 15 year girl came to my house a few weeks back, and put her fist through one of my windows. She was arrested for Criminal Damage and cautioned. As a result, I had to pay £125 for the insurance excess, a further £11 odd for the cost of a window that wouldn't be replaced by the insurance as it was not damaged,...

Awarded Costs in the County Court - Help with rates please by nagsman
All. Following my victory in the County Court I have been invited to submit my cost schedule. I have a bill for the costs up until the time I began to represent myself - thereafter I have some details of the time I have spent in preparations and the days off work I have had to take so in theory it should be pretty easy to work out.

Court case reports by H
I have in mind cases involving schools, which might be heard by a Tribunal (SENDIST), a Magistrates, the High Court and from there - the Court of Appeal and the House of Lords. Clearly, outcomes of these cases may have important implications for many groups of people - Government (in the form of whatever department/s are responsible for schools and education), Local Authorities,...

scotland: no overnight parking by misterroy
I have seen what looks like council signs saying "No Overnight Parking". I presume they are backed up by either Scots Law or a local bylaw. If a landowner puts up a sign at say a beach car park what legal ground is he standing on?

Details of case heard at local magistrates court on the web? by Allan Gould
Is it possible to get details of a hearing that occured last week at the local magistrates court from a website. The case is reported in the local paper, but it would be interesting to get details from the source (court documents), as the local paper cannot always be relied on to adhere to details. A quick look round: http://www.hmcourts-service.gov.uk/ http://www.cjsonline.gov.uk/ didn't...

Newsgroup 'product' reports - lible by H
Can anyone shed some light on the possible pitfalls surrounding the following idea. I would like members of a disability related newsgroup-like email list, to comment on a range of products that other members might be interested in but which are difficult for them to try. However, it struck me that if they comment on any product or service it's possible they could open themselves up to...

making a formal complaint against the police by gormand53@yahoo.co.uk
I have been the victim of harassment by youths in my neighbourhood for three years now, and my local police just don't seem to be prepared to help stamp out the problem, even though I've written numerous letters, including some to the Chief Constable, and my MP. My latest letter, to a Chief Superintendent, got me nowhere, so I'm thinking of making a formal complaint. I'd appreciate any advice...

Statement of truth by alumnus
In the event of it being demonstrated that the statement of truth contains a number of assertions which are not true and can be shown to be false, is the person signing the document subject to any sanction? If this is the case, how would one go about pursuing the matter? I am not interested in financial compensation but am prepared to be bemused by the likelihood that there is probably no...
