Small claims court enquiry by
Alan Crowder
Thanks for reading this.
A gentleman buys and sells car parts on ebay, and has his own
web pages also indicating he sells car parts.
I paid for three parts (not via ebay) with a direct bank transfer
into his account and two weeks later he sent the parts but with
one the wrong colour (bumper). I informed him of this at the
time and he said he would replace it, so far after almost a month
with...

Music Copyright - on a similar theme... by
SecretSquiddle
What if someone who owns the legal copy of an album on cassette tape, and
then downloads the same album on p2p? Are any laws being broken here?
As I see it: Owning an original recording in one format, then downloading a
digital format of the same material is legal.

Is it illegal to install a Gas cooker yourself? by
Farouq
Hi all,
I ordered a gas cooker online last week from Comet and when they
delivered it I was told that it is illegal for me to install it myself
and that I need to get a Corgi engineer in.
I called a Corgi engineer in the next day just to make sure it was done
safely.
It seems a bit harsh to make it illegal to fit a cooker. I'd understand

Husbands right to change name on marriage by
Matt Horn
Hello,
I wonder if anyone can help me out.
As far as I understand it a wife is allowed to assume her husbands surname
on marriage (the marriage certificate being all the documentation that is
required). A man does not have the right to change his surname name to that
of his wifes.
This seems unfair and a case of sexual discrimination. How do I go about

Training foreign employees to take your job by
Bookworm
A relative of mine works for a company that is closing the UK works and
shipping all the machinery to an East European location to save
costs,(i.e. to increase profits). He, together with his co-workers,
have been told they must train the foreign workers to use the machinery
before it is stripped down and shipped.
Is he within his rights to refuse? His contract of Employment says

Digging up the past for the truth by
D.M. Procida
A certain Clifford Francombe has been jailed for a rape committed 21
years ago:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/wales/4922790.stm
How on earth does one satisfactorily prove an accusation of rape in
these circumstances? He was found guilty by a jury, so there must have
been some persuasive evidence. What would count as evidence 21 years
later?

A one man limited company did not pay my invoice to them, I got a CCJ
for the money (£1900), defendant still did not pay, I got an enforcement
order, the company ignored this and the baliffs seemed to have given up
as the guy worked from home and has no company assets. Today I get a

Enhanced Disclosure by the CRB Question... by

I have been police checked for my job, several years ago in fact, but
now my employer wishes to do a full check as my work involves contact
with vunerable families...
I have a question about the sort of info the Police may hold...
In 1985 I was interviewed about the sexual assault of a kid on my
estate. It wasn't just me that was interviewed, it was every one of
roughly my age. Two police...

Bus Bay - Stopping - Penalty Notice? by
Reg M
Hi,
I am more or less resigned to paying a penalty charge for stopping
just at the very start of a bus bay in York Way, Kings Cross for just
long enough to allow two people to leave the car and take their
luggage with them, a process which took maybe two minutes. A
photograph was taken and a penalty imposed for 'parking' in the bay. I
presume there is no leeway whatsoever for such an offence...

I have not been `assimilated` to a new post following a restructure.
I have a letter from the HR Manager stating that where at least 80% of old
duties reflect into the new post then staff will be assimilated.
I have written a letter of Appeal against the decision. In the first
paragraph of my letter I state

This has been puzzling me for a little while now, so maybe someone can answer me this:
When a news article refers to Blair standing down as PM, it also mentions Gordon Brown
WILL be taking over as PM.
Surely this isnt as straightforward, and that some kind of election would take place
amongst the party to see IF Brown becomes leader. Or am i being naive, here and it IS a
nice cozy carve up...

Warrant of Execution by

Recently filed & obtained a monetary Judgement by Default after my bank
failed to file a defence, followed by a Warrant of Execution. They are
now seeking to have both set aside on the grounds that they never
received any documents, & now plan to defend the action.
I find it inconceivable that a major bank would have failed to receive
both:
a) The original Summons and

Surveyor help by

I am in the process of selling my house, I recently accepted an offer and
the buyers survey has been carried out today. The surveyor has basically
said that he would not recommend any lending on the house as there is a pole

original structure. I do not have the full report yet but basically he is
implying the structure...
