Contract - partial removal of services - opinions please by
Daytona
When is a feature made available to customers part of a contract ?
I changed ISP recently to NDO/Namesco whilst upgrading to ADSL. Before
doing so, as usenet newsgroups are an important feature for me, I
checked for provision. The website said nothing, so I emailed the
support department who replied -
"Yes we do provide usenet access for our ADSL customer on the
NDO/Namesco platform.

Unlawful deduction of wages? by
Dean Lambert
I have recently been working for an employment agency. The company that I
was sent to gave me a mobile phone and I have now been told that I am no
longer needed, because apparently a phone ill has been run up.
On Friday morning my weekly wages were put in as normal, but in the
afternoon, my employers recalled my wages, leaving me £270 overdrawn. In
that wage I get tax credits.
When I got...

Small Claims Court? How and costs? by
outofpocket
I just require some straightforward advice please:
I'm a student who does web design on a relatively small basis just to
make ends meet. Unfortunately one of my clients has been promising to
pay me for over 3 months now and finally I have lost patience and need
to know where I stand.
The website is complete, the amount owing is only £390.00, and the
client is very happy with it and has not...

Company in Liquidation by
Allen
A company we use at work for labour has gone into liquidation, the receiver
has been called in.
Some of their employes have not been paid.
Where do there stand in the "pecking order" to get paid by the receiver?
What chance do they stand of actually being paid?
The employees concerned have resigned and have moved to another contract
company.

Hi,
Could any one tell me what powers the uk courts would have if you live
aboard in another EEC country?
If you owed money in the uk how would they collect the money?
Thank-you.

Jury Service. by
King
A pal of mine said they have been called for Jury Service at the High
Court in London, i.e. the Royal Courts of Justice in the Strand London.
I did not think that the High Court called Juries for deliberating as
they only get Civil Cases, not Criminal trials. I think my friend is
mistaken.
I myself, was called for Jury Service at my local Crown Court ten years
and likewise most of my other...

Further question on non payment of wages by
Dean Lambert
If deductions were made from someones wage, what percentage are they not
allowed to take? Obviously they are not allowed to touch Tax Credits, I've
found that information out.

Do we have access to our (UK) dental records? by

Many dental sites on the web but nowhere can I find the answer to this
question:
Do we have access to, (ie a right to a copy of) our dental records?
As we can now access copies of our medical records I wondered if the same
might
be true for dental?

"Stay anytime from now until 31 March 2006 inclusive and pay for
just one! So £x buys you 2 NIGHTS to 31 March. But ...

Parking Ticket by
Apollo
Hi,
Received a parking ticket the other day outside my house on a single
yellow line.
The line is barely visible and has broken up in many places, it has
been this way for the 5 years I have lived here. As the yellow line
was not maintained I thought that there was no parking restriction,
do I have any rights to appeal?

Domestic CCTV by
Nick Odell
With apologies to anyone who actually lives in Baghdad, Beirut or Gaza but when
the vandalism here flares up again as it inevitably does, it feels like living
in Baghdad, Beirut or Gaza and I have decided to install a domestic CCTV system.
I've read the relevant pages on the Information Commisioner's website and I've
trawled through previous discussions on uk.legal and uk.legal.moderated and...

Can I bill spammers for posting links on my forum? by
nigelhilluk@googlemail.com
I would appreciate some discussion on a matter of spammers posting
links on forums.
I own an online forum. Every post from all but trusted users is
moderated because of the amount of spam it gets. After getting fed up
of my forum being spammed with links to porn and gambling sites I added
some conditions of posting, which are as follows:
-
Linking to porn/gambling/drugs/links/shopping...

minimum wage - unpaid meetings after work? by
Tx2
My company expects me to attend a meeting at head office out of normal
working hours - unpaid.
The meeting is for a presentation regarding new developments within the
business, and an update on substantial new contracts secured. Neither
will have much impact on my daily working life.
I am contractually based as working from home, the head office is 2
hours drive away, the meeting is to take...
