Is the ownership of this house legally transferred? by
tonyjeffs
After correctly completing the 3 appropriate forms to transfer
ownership of a second house from one family member to another, we sent
them to the Land Registry. They returned them explaining that they
needed those involved to visit with identification before they could
act.
(This is reassuring, because last time we did this, they didn't ask
for identification, and I worried that it might be an...

sub-let by
Colin Jackson[_3_]
Daughter, professional, secure salaried job, 30ish, seeks accomodation, a step up from student acc.
I have suggested she contact estate agents/web sites etc for a 2 roomed apartment,
with the view to sub-let the second room. She would be able to take on lease and prove that she
could, if necessary, manage the outgoings by herself, if necessary.
SWMBO says that it is illegal to sub-let.
I would...

Wheelie bin police by
Albert
Neighbour (busybody) has threatened to report me for leaving my wheelie
bin on the street.
I note that various people round the country have had fixed fines.
What legislation allows this - is it just a general all purpose 'no
obstruction' law or one specifically for bins?
If obstruction, would I be able to argue my point with "I keep it next
to a dirty great tree in the middle of the...

Would a class action deter F4J? by
David J
News Item Fri, Aug 15th 2008
"Drivers are still enduring long queues several hours after a Fathers
4 Justice protest forced the closure of four lanes on the M25".
Thousands of folk missed flights from Heathrow & Gatwick, and arrived
late to weddings, funerals, business appointments, etc. Cost of all
this is incalculable.

Eyesore - Electricity Cable by
mad_ferrit
I live in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Wales and enjoy a beautiful panoramic view from the front of my residential property which stretches for miles.
I have just come back from holiday to discover a thick black electricity cable has been repositioned accross the farmer's field about 15 metres from my property. When viewed from the ground floor of my house it runs along the horizon...

Cause for termination of tenancy query by
njpusenet@googlemail.com
To cut a long story short, is excessive noise/vibration from a train
line at the bottom of the garden (the garden isn't big, so the train
line is very close) any sort of cause for cutting a tenancy agreement
short? 6-10 passenger trains an hour go by at high speed, plus
freight trains. The passenger trains only stop at 01:00 and start up
again around 04:30 - the freight trains run 24 hours. ...

ebay woes still ongoing by
Staffbull[_2_]
Hi, update, passed details to police, they did investigate but said
"its a civil matter" as I was told on here.
But what they did do was confirm the details of the account holder
and her address.
This means I can take small claims action.
Question is should I win and the seller refuses to pay after that, can
I force them to pay?
If I cant, I dont see the point, and the law really is an ass!!

T&C when sending item back for repair by
Mark
Hi,
I bought an MP3 player (not a cheap one) less than six months ago and
it has gone wrong. (It was bought via Amazon marketplace.)
I emailed the company and they have sent me a label and a form to sign
when returning the item. One of the clauses in the form seems
unreasonable to me since it states "All faults that are not covered by
the warranty will lead to a payable quote made by the...

A thought - Data protection by
Him & Her[_2_]
Just been issued with a default notice for a home contents policy I
cancelled by post in July.
On phoning "customer services" (will I *ever* stop laughing at that one)
they didn't want to talk to me, spouting the DPA, as I would only identify
myself by surname and the reference number they issued.
It occurs to me, does the UK DPA actually cover calls to India?

executor disappeared with our share! by
jbrennan
Hello all
My brother was named executor in my late fathers will, in which each child was left a share. He and I have never seen eye to eye and despite constantly demanding action he has not given me my share. He has now disappeared abroad somewhere. It is 4 years since the will was read. I have tried everything I can think of. What else can I do on limited income?

Davenport Lyons going against file sharers by
MrX
I received a nice letter from Davenport Lyons last week as well, stating I had made available the game ‘The Witcher’ on a P2P network and that I can choose to pay them 870£ now or be prepared to get sued.
I have now finished some extensive reading on the internet and got a ton of information thanks to guys like you who all shared their knowledge. Just wanted to say thanks at this point, you’re...

Disclosure of decryption key by
Ian Chard
Hi,
If someone is served a section 49 notice under RIPA 2000 requiring them
to disclose their decryption key, and the key is (say) derived
on-the-fly from an iris scan, can they be forced to stick their eye in
front of a scanner? RIPA somewhat recursively defines a key as "any
key, code, password, algorithm or other data".
Purely out of curiosity, naturally!

Rota change by
DanT
I work for the ambulance service in the control room, and as such work a rota system. We work a 24 week rota, with 12 hour shifts. We have been on this rota for several years with no problems, however our employer wishes to review the rota. Having conducted a poll of all employees, the majority are happy with the current rota but would be open to change, and our manager has promised us the...
