unlicened vehicle offence by
ali@nickoo.freeserve.co.uk
My old car engine was blown and I was no longer able to drive it. I
kept it on the grass outside my house until I get round to scrap it.
Before the tax expires I declared it off the road (SORN) and got a
notifcation that I should no longer use it or keep it on "Public Road".
One day coming back from work the car was no longer there and after
contacting the neighbours I was told it has been taken...

Charge back fiasco (long post) by
อะไรก็ตาม
All
I am really sorry for the length of this post but the saga is long and I=20
would appreciate some advice or at least a truthful answer as to where I=20
stand. I feel that I have been given the round-around by a certain=20
no-named company and also been given false information by my bank.
In July I purchased some computer parts for some friends and I paid=20
using my debit card. The good...

Retaining parking tickets. by
Chris Street
I've just had a demand letter for a parking fine from Knaresboroughs
enforcement goons. Luckily enough I still had the ticket, in a rather
crumpled off the floor condition, so it was faxed back and they replied
rather snottily that "they feel it would not be in the interests to
prosecute further" since they don't have the balls to admit to their
mistake.
However since I probably collect three or...

Warrant of Distress by
Dark Angel
I've had a letter through my letterbox this morning addressed to the houses
previous occupant. I was just going to put it in the letterbox marked "no
longer at this address", however just above the address I can make out the
letters "Warrant of Distress".
As the letter is not addressed to me I don't really want to open it, however
could someone please explain what a "Warrent of Distress" is?

Correcting Annual Return by
brcwwcrb
Hi
I've taken over as company secretary for a property management company
and just received the annual return. The previous secretary resigned
as secretary but stayed on as director, but it looks like he filled in
his 288 form incorrectly, as he's still registered as a secretary (as
am I), but is no longer on the list of directors. How do I get this
fixed? The annual return only allows for...

Domain names (UK) by
Sven
Several companies of multiple shareholding and directorship are splitting.
Director and shareholder named Mr Smith has all the domains in his personal
name or his company name.
Director and shareholder named Mr Jones is taking some companies in the
split that are registered to Mr Smith.
Things might turn nasty.

Misrepresentation by
robin.bastard
advance Can anyone help some years ago in the 70s, when I bought a house the
sellers said that the central heating was in working order in the contracts,
and it wasn't, I was told to take them to the small claim court under the
misrepresentation act I believe of 1965 but I'm not sure, nor can I remember
what part of the act, all I can remember is that if you sign saying
something is so and it...

www.print.google.com by
Alasdair Baxter
I see that Google, in conjunction with several academic libraries, is
scanning full text books and publishing them on its Internet site to the
great annoyance of some authors and publishers and to the delight of people
like me who don't want to have to go traipsing to the local library to look
something up. I wonder when English and Scottish law reports will be
available this way?
Most of the...

A question about police right of entry by
richardhorke@yahoo.com
I'm trying to seek some legal advice.
Hoax calls are being made about a property, the caller stating that a
'woman is calling for help from the property'. The police have
instantly established these are hoax calls made by a care in the
community mental health patient (who also happens to be a scummy
crackhead & heroin addict). This information has been logged on their
central computer...

Author Requires Background on Legal Process involving GPs by
martinc@lycos.com
Hi,
Thanks for reading. I'm a new author writing a novel. Two of the main
characters are a GP and a solicitor. I'd like to make their
professional relationship as authentic as possible, so if you're a
solicitor or other legal type, and you wouldn't mind answering a few
general, probably fairly simple questions about the purchase of a share
in a GP practice, please get in touch. It will probably...

Customer wants to take his car before I have finished by
chris@before-n-after.co.uk
Hi,
A customer wants to take his car before I have completely finished
working on it (just needs another 15 minutes approx to finish). Can I
insist on completing the job and therefore fulfilling my contract?
Can I prevent him from taking his car by putting a car in the way to
prevent him driving off in it?
What is the situation if he rings the police? Do they have the right
to order me to...

Employment Contract - Pay Review (amusing) by
unopened@mail.com
An old friend of mine has just had notification of his annual pay
review and had his pay increased - which is nice for him.
Unfortunately, whoever typed up the official notification letter to him
apparently got the figures spectacularly wrong in his favour.
Now, I believe the offical notification letter (signed by a senior
manager in his company) forms part of a contract of employment...

small claims by
Eamonn
It looks likely that my mum will have to take a well known electrical
retailer (C***T online) to small claims to get a refund on goods ordered
but never delivered.
Can she claim for the costs of the action ?
Also, can the defendant apply to have it heard elsewhere, and if they
do, can we claim travelling expenses if we win ?

Motorcycles parked at bicycle stands by
s_pickle2001@yahoo.com
I often see motorcycles parked at bicycle stands on the pavement. What
is the legality of this? Does it make any difference if there is a blue
sticker showing a bicycle on the stand? (I assume no.)
I was under the impression that motorcycles should not be ridden or
pushed on the pavement, in the same way as cars shouldn't, with a few
exceptions. Is this correct?

Hi,
My daughter is a student at Lancaster University and rented a room in
a house for which she paid 200 deposit.
The tenancy agreement ended 15th July and new occupants moved in 2
weeks later.
She spoke to the Landlord in August about the return of her deposit
and he stated that he would return it when 2 settees that were not

Is a Speedboat a Ship? by
Adrian Kelf
A friend of mine
has an 18 ft speedboat which he keeps moored either in his boathouse or a=

the quay-heading at the bottom of his garden, which abuts a non-tidal
stretch of river.
Three years ago a holiday maker in a 24 ft hire craft rammed the moored
speedboat (there was nobody in the speedboat at the time) and did about
=A31,000 worth of damage. The driver of the hire craft made a...
