Preblem brewing with credit card company by wooks
Capital One sent me a statement for period ending 26 Sep 05. On 30 Sep 05 I paid the entire balance over the counter at my bank (I cannot remember how - cash/withdrawal/cheque) . I have a stamped receipt from the bank for this. On Friday last (October 14th) my card got declined at the supermarket. I checked my account online and discovered my payment to the credit card company had been...

Have I been bribed? by GB
I have just settled my son's SEN tribunal case with the LEA on the basis that they pay a large part of the cost of his schooling and I pay the rest. I had made it clear that I was unimpressed with the LEA's officers (lying b*****s, totally unfit for public service, etc might get past moderation) and I was considering a formal complaint, probably culminating in going to the Local Government...

Is there a campaigning group for this? by Rachie
Is there a group in the UK that campaigns for more humane treatment of prisoners with mental health support needs? What appears to happen regularly is that they are arrested for something like breach of the peace when they are not well. They then have a couple of days on remand before they go to court. They then have about three weeks back on remand for some form of 'enquiry' before going to...

Freedom of Information...... by Johnny8977
Hi all. I was in the process of part ex'ing my house with a national builder. I was using a Financial Adviser appointed by them as they did not use anyone else. Now I was waiting on the valuation on my new house to be carried out by my mortgage company (Abbey) for ages. This FA could never give me an answer as to when it would be done. He also said I couldn't speak to the people at my mortgage...

He is uing me for =A36500 of which I had admitted Around =A32000, having paid =A390 less into court becasue of my counter claim As I had made an admission I argued the case should go to the Small calims Court. Before lunch he...

I sense trouble ahead - dot removed. ;o) by Just me
I'm hoping someone can help me before I drive myself nuts trying to fathom it all out. I work for a company and we have been taken over by another. New contracts have been issused (of which I have no complaints about in general) My working hours for the month have been stipulated (as has everyone else's) The problem that has arisen is this - I'm part time and have been for 12 years. I work in...

A question about police complaints procedure by richardhorke@yahoo.com
I'm trying to seek some advice on police complaints procedure, when someone wishes to make a formal complaint against two officers for assault, misconduct & discrimination which incidentally occurred in the innocent victim's home, and which resulted in cuts/scars & pains in the wrist, psychological damage etc. The victim of the police assault is having great difficulty securing a specialist...

Housing Act 1985 - Amendments by Chris
Hi, As part of my job, I deal with the above Act, in particular the Right to Buy part. The legislation has been modified many times, and I just wondered if there exists a "current version", showing the law as it currently stands, with all the modifications inserted and all the revocations removed. If so, where can I get this? If not, is there a list of all subsequent Acts (and Orders) that...

New early release provisions by JR
Does anyone have the definitive answer to whether the new early release provisions (s.244 CJA 2005) apply (i) to those "sentenced" on/after 4/4/05, notwithstanding the offence was committed prior to that date, or (ii) only to offences committed after 4/4/05. My view is that they apply to those sentenced after 4/4 as the Act is otherwise silent on the point. Home Office guidance and anybody...

Mobile phone contract query by Netty
Hope I'm in the right ng for this query. In July I went to a mobile phone shop with my husband as his contract was due for renewal and he wanted an upgrade. Anyway, while we were there, I got talked into having a new phone, number and 18 month contract (I'd casually mentioned the current phone I had occasionally went on the blink and I'd cancelled the expensive insurance months ago). The phone...

Making Partner Next Of Kin - How?? by Richard Faulkner
Hi, My partner has expressed a concern that, if anything happened to me, she would have no say in the decision making process. E.g. if I had an accident and decisions regarding treatment needed to be made. I had never thought about it, but I am now wondering what I need to do to make her next of kin? And are there different requirements for different things?

Mail order delivery by Eamonn
My old mum (gawd bless 'er) ordered a camera from comet online three weeks ago but they failed to deliver it twice so she cancelled the order. Comet now say that the package was signed for by a Mr X (the man in the flat below hers) on the second delivery date. Mr X says he received the parcel and left it outside her front door. Am I right in assuming that comet have failed to fulfil the order...

Minutes from Board of Examiners by Nordic
Hi, I've been screwed by my university; to cut a long story short, they have awarded me with a much lower result than what should have been. The issue of whether I should be given my correct mark, or the one they gave me rests on the interpretation of mitigating circumstances, by one lecturer. I have reason to believe the lecturer mislead the board of examiners during their meeting, but the...

Hang them. by Allan Tracy
If you are going to be a murder victim chances are greater than 70% that it will be at the hands of a relative, a friend, a neighbour or a lover. If you are going to be killed by a stranger then it is most likely that they will be a motorist and least likely that they will be a terrorist. The biggest killer of all is natural causes.
