Issues with Social Services - 2nd attempt at posting by H
A family I know appear to be being very much let down by social services. The family, a mother and two sons, all have learning difficulties. The older son has just turned 19, the younger will be 15 in September. I think the older child has a diagnosis of Cerebral Palsy and though having no obvious mobility problems clearly has behavioural problems. The behaviour is so bad that he has wrecked...

Wills - Second marriage - guarantees for children by Invisible Man[_2_]
Hello My wife and I are very happily married in our mid-fifties. We each have children from our first marriages, all over 21. At present we have mirror wills leaving everything to the other unless the other is dead or dies within 28 days in which case it is shared equally between the children with any already deceased childs share split equally between their children.

Issues with this list by Mike[_6_]
Hello I have tried to post twice to UK Legal Moderated regarding an important issue affecting UK residents. My posts have not shown up on group and I have not been informed that my post has been rejected? What do I do, who are the moderators and how to I make representations to them or do I go to Google first?

(resubmission as last one failed) Dear members I want to ask advice please on the following complex subject! We have a very clear set of laws and EU directive relating to radio interference here in the UK and as part of our European membership. Yet a very serious threat to international broadcasting, radio

Sold a duff train ticket by Roland Perry
This hasn't happened to me, or anyone I know (yet) but anecdotal evidence is quite strong. On September 7th there is a major re-vamp of the way that train tickets are named (and to some extent what their validity is). But the various ticket-selling sites (operated by the railway industry) seem to be having some teething problems. People are being sold tickets (sometimes with seat...

Planning -unauthorised hoarding by beginner@notmyaddress.com
A very large illuminated advertisement hoarding was erected locally without planning permission. After retrospective planning applications and appeals were refused, the council eventually issued enforcement notices against both the land owner and the advertising company, and these passed the due date. Before the council could take action to remove the structure itself, the sign was sold to a...

Question
Representing myself in the family courts - need to prepare statements before hearing by George Washington
I have been representing myself for the first 2 hearings, during which I have managed to get a court order for shared school holidays, alt weekends-fri to mon and every Tuesday night. I actually applied for shared residency order, but it seems to have moved more into a shared care order. The final piece of the puzzle is to add alt Monday nights to bridge the alt weekend to the regular Tuesday...

Unadopted Road Liability by mikeateves
Hi, I live on an unadopted road and as I understand things I am liable if anyone has an accident on the short stretch of road that I am responsible for maintaining. In the near future a public footpath may be established along the road. I believe the maintenance of footpaths is a responsibility of the parish council. If this is the case would liability for anyone having an accident while walking...

Wrong price advertised on internet by adam_f
Hi, I have been trawling this forum trying to work out where I stand but there seem to be a few issues that I can't work out. Yesterday I tried to buy a new TV from redstore.com at what I thought was a bargain, a 57" TV for only £240 quid. Now before you say how obvious the mistake was, I couldn't have been sure, a couple of years ago I got my 32" LCD for a few hundred quid. Anyway I put in an...

County Court - Discovery by Thomas[_3_]
I run a small Ltd company supplying other small companies. I have taken out a County Court summons against one of my customers who owes me around £9,000. They have replied to the summons acknowledging the debt, asking to pay £50 monthly, claiming debts of several thousand pounds to other creditors. I am inclined to disbelieve this claim. I want to ask them to supply evidence of these...

House left in trust.. what value is used? by PCPaul
When my father died in 1991 his will left the house to be split equally between me and my step sister, but it was to be used by my stepmother until her death. No problems there, we all get on and it seems very fair. What I'm wondering about is how that wish gets taken forward.. my stepmother has since sold that house, met another partner and put the money from that house into jointly buying...

Fines/Damages by Dave[_7_]
I am interested in finding out what sort of crimes might receive a given financial penalty (for an individual). Similarly I am interested in knowing what level of damages would be awarded for the same financial penalty. The figures I have in mind a - £10,000 - £15,000 - £20,000

Costs as deterrent by a@b.invalid
Somebody walked across my lawn. In doing so they left a few footprints. I wrote to them, asked them to pay £300 pounds in compensation and sign and undertaking never to walk on any more lawns again. Funnily enough they've offered me £8 in compensation, which is the market value of the grass they damaged. I intend to incur thousands of pounds of costs taking them to court, claiming damages...

distribution of rent between a couple and a single sharing a place by fabian.conrad@gmail.com
Hi, I am sharing a place together with a couple. Its a 2 bedroom apartment and during the week only the girl is here, on weekends and during his holidays the guy life's here as well. We've always shared everything 50/50 but since the guy moved in now I think that is not quite fair anymore. Is there a general rule / law about how rent and other costs should be distributed. Say if they'd both be...

Question
Quick question - Does a solicitors letter need to examined and signed by WitsEnd
If a solicitor is sending out a letter, for example threatening legal action, and they are putting their name to it, are they obliged in law or code of conduct to ensure they have inspected the letter and signed it personally to ensure its validity, rather than sending out letters willy nilly! Thanks in advance.

Furniture problem by Samantha Booth
I bought a cabin bed from a company in July. The bed was missing a drawer front which they told me would be sent out Thursday of that week, they promised it would be sent out so I bought the bed in good faith trusting it would be sent. When I got it home the one remaining drawer front was damaged, I called them and they agreed to send two. I have been calling every week for now 6 weeks only to be...
