Web Company gone AWOL by Stephen George
At the end of October, I contracted a web designer (trading as a limited company) to construct a website for me. I paid nearly £600 (including VAT) up front. The balance of £600 is due on completion. We both signed identical contracts. I supplied content for the website by email in four stages, the last on 22/11/04. The designer emailed a couple of times to say the site was going well etc, and...

Ex Display Goods Advice please by Keith
My wife purchased an ex display Dishwasher that was pre packed. When she got it home and unpacked it she discovered some cosmetic damage, the plumbing hoses were missing as was the guarantee card. She returned the goods for rejection within an hour of purchase, but was refused a refund on the grounds that they were not legally bound to do so, it being ex display and not being faulty. Goodwill...

Gareth A. wrote in message ... Snip I have considered setting up a camera and will probably do that first, the problem is taking video of a car at 60mph in a car driving at 60mph into the sun is quite tricky, and then what the heck do you do with the tape? I have a new digital SLR camera that can take photos very quickly, I might rig...

Can a dentist force you to have a checkup ? by Farouq
In summary: Booked an appointment to have my teeth polished. Turned up and paid =A335 before being told I can't have my teeth polished. They insisted I have a checkup because I haven't had one in the past 12 months and the polish will be extra.

OTish: Career advice? by kittykat
Hello. I posted here a while ago regarding problems with an abusive London Underground employee and found your responses very helpful. I did get a robotic "Sorry about that" response but I'm more or less over the outrage at the indignity of what happened by now. I just started my M.Eng degree in engineering in October this year. I've thought a lot about being a lawyer but my issues with...

24hours to report assault? by Carl Farrington
I think I might need to report an assault. If the guy doesn't agree to fix my car bonnet and get a new windscreen fitted, I won't let it slide. It's been suggested that an assault must be reported within 24hrs of it occuring, can anybody tell me whether this is true or not? details of what happened are here if anyone's interested. there is some bad language in my post there I'm afraid, so please...

Timpsons lose key by JM
Hi, I went to Timpsons to get a key cut for my new house's front door today. Unfortunately, when I returned around 30 minutes later to collect and pay for the key, they had lost both the original and the copy. This is the only copy of the key that I have (was only provided with one when I bought the house). Thankfully, I have a back door key but I'm obviously going to have to get

That footballer rape case by a
As I'm sure you are all aware, the BBC and others report that a number of young men have been found not guilty of rape. According to the BBC the judge directed the jury to return not-guilty verdicts because the girl's evidence was seriously inconsistent. Now I'm not critisising anyone, just trying to find out what might be happening here. All my information is based on news reports and should by...

In message , Chris Street writes Six months? Why? I can see that it is serious yes - it costs money, it *may* be used for witness/jury intimidation (which apparantly was not the case here) but six months does seem a little excessive.... I am interested in comments about the following story from theregister http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/11/24/fingerprint_fights_id_theft/ Would this be an effective way to stop fraud, or could it just cause more problems then its worth. Human Rights by Iain
With the imminence of the general election, are the human rights principles of 'secret ballot' now going to be implemented? Or is it going to remain as before, ie. traceable, 'for national security purposes'?
