Bankruptcy law. help needed by
Nic
Hi all
Does anyone know anything about bankruptcy law. I wish to file for
personal bankruptcy but save my business. How can I sign it over to
my partner without him being liable for all the current business debt.
This I will file in the bankruptcy court. He is able to finance the
business himself and it is a viable business if only it didnt have to
pay for my personal debt. Any ideas would...

Following on from the career advice thread... by

....would anyone be willing to offer an opinion on the various types of
LLM there are about? (I already have a BSc and I am currently working,
so I'd be doing it Distance Learning)
I think I'd prefer to just do generic "Law" but given that it's quite
rare, I'm wondering if Commercial/Contract/International/IT Law might
be a better option? Does doing one of them force you into
specalisation...

Parking query by
Alex
I arrived outside my workplace today at 3.25pm after a client visit.
Onstreet
parking there is for an hour maximum, and is free after 4.30pm.
Unsurprisingly I waited for a few minutes before putting my money in the
machine which showed 3.29pm on the digital display (slightly slow in fact).
After it moved to 3.30pm I pressed for my ticket - which showed I had paid
until 4.29pm! Surely these 2...

Basic or Specific Intent??? by
Rik Irving
Hey all.
I am studying for an exam using Blackstones Ospre Manuals.
I have a stack of questions based around defences of intoxication and I am
very confused.
It boils down to the fact that I cannot get my head around whether a crime
is of basic or specific intent.

DNA samples by
The Todal
Does anyone know whether police officers investigating a murder are entitled
to require members of the public who happen to have been at the scene, to
give DNA samples? In other words, can the member of the public refuse, and
is there a procedure for obtaining court orders to compel him?
If it is covered in legislation, can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks.

Alternative Names for Electoral Role Registration by

For voter registration purposes, how is "names by which they are

Enforcement Notice Town and Country Planning Act 1990 by
TONY
Hi,
Any planning law specialists out there. Does an enforcement notice expire
after a period of time. If so what is the period.
This relates to a piece of land I was going to purchase but I was
subsequently issued with an enforcement notice by the local council. This
stated that I would have to satisfy the condition of the original planning
permission (the builder went bankrupt).

Arson and Violence Threatened by
GB
My son has been round at a friend's flat for the last couple of days, on
guard duty! Her ex-boyfriend has sent threatening emails -
"There are lots of my people after your blood, so you had better be as good
as you say you are at self-defence"
"You had better hope you move before I torch your flat"
"If I ever see you again, I'll kill you"

Recovering Lost Time as damages via small claims track by
Ryan O'Connell
It was mentioned in passing in another thread here that it's not
possible to recover lost time as damages via the small claims track,
is that correct?
I'm currently about to start a case against a large organisation (For
a variety of things, but I'll probably persue it under the Data
Protection Act as it's eaisest to prove and I know it reasonably well
as I work in IT) which would be difficult...

Sales of goods etc long post by

I must first apologise as this is a long one. I feel all the details
have to be given in order to get the correct advice.
First the background
In sept 2002 I purchased a new boiler (make Keston) from the local
Plumbers merchant as a consumer. I got a local plumbing firm to fit
new central heating with this boiler. They told me ( The installers,
I feel fairly) that they could not guarrentee...

Hunting ban - the legal realities by
Bystander
Hunting with dogs is now banned. The rights and wrongs of that have been
discussed elsewhere. What I want to look at is the legal reality now that
the Bill has become law.
Firstly, gathering evidence. The police will either need to use trail bikes
or horses to follow the hunt, because they will need evidence of a hunt
rather than just a ride in the country while exercising a pack of dogs....

Crime fight tops Labour's agenda
Tony Blair has put the fight against crime and terror at the heart of his
government's programme in the run up to the next general election.
Home Office Bills - including national ID cards and moves to combat terrorism,
drugs and anti-social behaviour - dominated Tuesday's Queen's Speech.

Redundancy by
Marcus
Hello,
There is a possibility of my partner being made redundant or relocated. My
question is if her office was relocated to another town which is the same
distance away to where she works now, will she have to go or will she be
offered redundancy if she doesn't want to relocate.
Basically she would rather be made redundant than be forced to work at
another office in another town. But if there...

Are retailers allowed to refuse return of goods? by
ivoodoospammers
Hello. I've got a couple of questions I would like to be more educated
about, so do bear with me.
Firstly, are consumers allowed to return goods simply because it was
"not what they thought it was"? What are the applicable laws for
returning goods through post (only the Distance Selling Regulations?)
and through retail shops?
For example, there are 2 computer games I bought recently, Breed...
