Copyrights and unpaid contract by
Simon
Hi,
Well over a month ago I accepted a contract to write a small software for
some investment company.
I knew that the contract was not going to be more than 20 to 30 days at the
most. It turned out to be 20 days exactly.
No paper/contract was signed but a few days into the contract a daily rate
was agreed between the accountant and the owner of company, (one of the 3
owners).

High Court judgement archive by
a
I'm looking for the text of a judgement, although the arguments might
also be useful, made by Mr Justice Holland at the High Court (since it's
a liability claim I presume Queen's Bench) earlier this year and
subsequently upheld on appeal. I've looked on the court service website
and at BAILLI with no luck. I can't even find a reference number.
I assume the fact that it isn't at BAILLI means that...

When does my responsibility for payment end? by
Gareth Hardy
Hi, all.
I paid a PC World Business invoice for just under £100 at the bank on
14th June. Payment was by cheque into their bank account, but paid at
our bank. It cleared out of the account on 17th. We've got the stub
receipt and the bank statement to prove it.
PC World Business haven't applied the payment to our account. Just how
far should I be going to try to resolve this? So far I've been on...

Simple question by

My neighbours and I share a communal yard. My problem is that one neighbour
leaves his own private property on it. My question is - can I tell him to
remove it?
Thanks

Help on Data Protection Act 1998 by
Mabon Dane
I am seeking a court order for information on a third party through the
County Court. Which section of the Data Protection Act 1998 do I apply
under for this information? I stress that I am not requesting
information about myself but about another person. Any feedback
appreciated - Mabon

where does a retailer stand in this instance..... by
RAM
Slightly long thread.... A salesperson works for a major retailer selling IT
stuff and equipment. This salesperson is reasonable knowledgeable. A
customer (not so knowledgeable)comes to the store and buys a laptop from
this salesperson. The salesperson asks questions to determine for what
purpose the equipment will be used for. The customer says that he wil be
using it for office and home work...

Have we changed that much? Or was Richard Miller wrong? by

This interesting point was never expanded, I hope Richard won't mind
me posting it again:

Data Protection Act and exam results by
Dominic Cleal
Hello all,
Our local school and sixth form regularly post some of the exam results
for GCSE, AS and A-Level in the local newspaper for their top five or ten
students. They typically list the student and how many of each grade they
attained.
I know for a fact the school hasn't explicitly requested permission from
the students before they release this information to the newspaper, but
are they...

obligation to supply goods by
where's my sofa?
A couple of months ago I purchased two sofa's from Argos that were in their
half-price sale. (I even signed up for and used their in-store credit card -
which was debited the full amount).
As I am currently decorating my house I asked if the sofa's may be held at
the warehouse for an extra few weeks (outwith the usual 1 month delivery
time). Having specifically asked if the sofa's would be held...

legality of knives in the UK by
david56
The following exchange, from AUE, is self explanatory, hinging on the
legality of keeping blades in the UK. Can anybody say whether it's
Dick Francis or I who is wrong?
I didn't cross post this, although I would have liked to, as I
suspect it's against the rules.

When can a learner driver discard his L plates? by
Alasdair Baxter
I was always under the impression that as soon as a learner-driver had
passed his test and was handed the pass certificate by the driving
examiner, he was free to drive unaccompanied and without the L plates.
I was therefore very surprised to see in the press a court case where
a driver was convicted of not displaying L plates after passing his
test but before sending off for his full licence to...

TUPE - what's what? by
Johnny8977
Hi all.
It looks like I'm going to be transferred to a new company under the TUPE
regs. I've tried to read up on it but have a few questions I was wondering
if anyone could answer.
I've read that if either company sack you because of reasons relating to the
transfer, you can claim for unfair dismissal. However, this isn't applicable
if the reason is for "financial, technical or organisational"...

Just wondering if someone could satisfy my curiosity over some gossip I've

Faulty Computer....Update! by

Thanks to everyone who contributed to the thread regarding my XPerian P4 PC
which failed again, days after coming back from it's 3rd repair. I wrote a
strongly worded letter detailing all the faults and demanding a full refund
as PC "was not fit for purpose...."etc.
Although they declined this request "at this stage" at least it got their
attention that I was not prepared for them to replace...

Moderation gone crazy?? by
Tim
Why has a post with more than **150** "new" words had the last all-but 5
"new" words *removed*, and then been placed on the "rejected" heap with a
reason of "insufficient new material"?
Especially when the post being replied to was not rejected, but only had
just over 20 words!
