Family law question by

"john boyle" wrote in message
Your Uncle has no 'claim' on the house if it was done the way you
describe. Your sister and her husband did all right out of that deal
didn't they?
Yes I suppose they did and even I was angry with them at times when their
children started to need more care and so detract from Nan.
But then this was with hindsight a silly arrangement...

But they got a house at a council discount didnt they?
Yes true, but my Nan could not have afforded it even at the discount, the
option of staying on was not available either as the council had told her
the house was in such a poor state that they wanted to move her out to allow
for the...

This has certainly happened before; I remember similar cases being
reported in teh newspapers. Many years ago, a friend of mine went

defendant, although he...

Bank error in customer's favour by
Bystander
This issue makes a regular appearance on Usenet legal groups, usually along
the lines of "can I keep it?"
Here is the answer from today's Times:-
WHEN a woman discovered that more than £24,000 had accidentally been paid
into her bank account, the temptation was too great to resist.
It was a few weeks before Christmas and the windfall came at a time when
Louise Inger, 34, who had been off...

SORN, Tax Disks, trailers, parking and clamping by
Palindr☻me
Hi,
The various threads here got me to thinking about the law,
motor vehicles and trailers.
Just what is the legal position of a trailer?
If I put one in a parking bay, do I have to buy a ticket?
How could a parking attendent "get" me, if the trailer had
no plates - or is it a requirement that it has a plate even

Certifying copies by
GB
Due to the wonders of the money laundering regs, my co-director and I need
to prove our identities pretty frequently. (We run a trustee company, so we
have to do this whenever we set up a new bank account for a new trust,
appoint an investment manager or even a lawyer, etc.)
We are fed up with being without our driving licences, passports etc. What I
want to do is provide a solicitor with both...

Liability of Banks in the case of fraud by
David A Green-
I would welcome advice or pointers to sources in the matter of a bank's
liability
to it's customers to investigate possible fraudulent use of a current
account.
The bank has so delayed the response to an earlier sequence of requests
for original cheques to be passed to the police that the originals are now
no longer available and the police investigation cannot proceed.
Where can I find statute...

Clamped in my driveway by
Simon
Hi,
My Landlord owns a few houses in my street. Because he was getting fed up
with strangers parking in his driveways, (and to make yet more money), he
contracted a private company to clamp cars illegally parked. The driveways
are a bit of an oddity here in London as they each large enough to allow 3
cars to park side by side, on average 2 more than is needed by any
households, so there is...

Young lad killed by

Complimentary Items in restaurants by
Harry The Horse
Yesterday evening I was dining in an Indian restaurant. At the beginning of
the meal the waiter placed a couple of poppadums on my table (without asking
me if I wanted them) and I assumed that they were complimentary. When the
bill came I saw that I had been charged for them. I wasn't bothered about
it because they were nice poppadums and I would have ordered them anyway if
they hadn't been...

Internet Domain Name by

Hi,
I want to register an internet domain name which uses the same wording as
the name of a local newspaper. They have a website already in the format
nameofnewspaper.co.uk and I wish to register a domain name in the format
name-of-newspaper.co.uk. If I buy this domain and proceed to develop a site
at that address, would they have any power in law to require me to give up
or surrender...

land registry filed plan error by
.
We are currently in dispute with our neighbours over a boundary. We have
received a letter from their solicitors threatening to take us to court. All
our deeds, our neighbours deeds and their other neighbours deeds show the
boundary is a straight retaining wall which our neighbours garage abuts.
However, the filed plan at land registry shows a curved red line and it is
this error at Land Registry...
