Bill Payment problem by Richard
I purchased a boiler last year, made by a company called Keston. It is a high end boiler (not a cheapo one you get from a DIY superstore!). It failed after 14 months use, and as I wanted a fast resolution I skipped over the supplier, and went straight to th emanufacturer. They said that the would send an engineer BUT if they found the fault was external to the boiler they would charge. ...

Black Police Association by GB
"Joe soap" wrote in message ... The black Police association is in my view a racist and divisive organisation and should be banned. Out of interest, would you say the same about a Disabled Police Association, if such were formed for disabled policemen who are still in service? It seems to me that they would have all...

Power of arrest for every offence by Dr Zoidberg
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3557266.stm Hmmmm , sounds like another step towards Blunketts plan of giving the police to do anything without justification , and not something that the police actually need (or want). There are very few occassions when officers want/need to arrest someone but can't find a suitable offence to fit the scenario. The idea of them being able to arrest anyone for the...

Blunkett starts battle for control of police by Paul Cummins
In article , (Wyliam) wrote: They would doubtlessly claim force majeur, which is not mentioned in the Employment Act, so it would be fun to see what happens next. Don't see how they could claim that - Force Majeur is supposed to cover acts of God, not Acts of Blunkett. --

Sex Discrimination Q by H
(Also posted in UK Legal, but no replies as yet) I returned from Maternity leave 4 years ago. I wanted to return to my existing management grade part time. This was deemed to be operationally hot practical, so I returned to a lower grade, and had my hourly rate cut by over £2. I have just stumbled across current company policy which is dated before my return from maternity. This policy clearly...

Black Police Association by Robert Hunt
I understand that there are also such things as women-only sports clubs. This is somewhat different because the primary purpose of the club is not to promote women's sports but to provide sports facilities for women. I am sure that many women-only sports clubs would provide full membership to men on the basis that they did not use the women-only facilities. It is only a small...

In my experience police forces are almost entirely driven by PR. Not public relations in the sense of ordinary people's perception of the police officers but how the media can be manipulated to show them in an efficient light. The officers were probably under orders to stop, search and report any youths they encountered - to add to police statistics. Blame the media for taking official reports on...
