Trespass by

Has anything happened about this, I haven't heard any more about it?
From: Alasdair Baxter )
Subject: Trespass to become a crime in the new parliament.
Newsgroups: uk.legal
Date: 2003-08-12 15:15:24 PST
I see from the newspapers at the week-end that the government are to
introduce a bill to criminalise trespass.
If this becomes law, everyone in the country...

Statute of limitations by

"George Orwell" wrote in message

In the US there is a statue of limitations on most crimes. I think
murder is the exemption. I was curious as to whether there are any
time limits on prosecution of offenses in the UK too?
This question is mainly brought about by my thinking about stupid
things I did when I was...

Case update - three weeks to go. by
Martin Nicholson
The sex discrimination case is now three weeks away and, not
surprisingly, ACAS have been in touch.
Intial offer of £500 to £1000 from the County Council if we can agree
"form of words".
My view is that the sum of money on offer (at 10% of the claim) is far
too low and that the form of words would be bound to involve a gagging
clause.

Copyright law: advertising and derivative works by
Robb Masters
I'd be very grateful if anyone here could give me any advice on the
following copyright dilemma...
From the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988 (c. 48)
63.—(1) It is not an infringement of copyright in an artistic work
to copy it, or to issue copies to the public, for the purpose of
advertising the sale of the work.
So if dealer "X" is trying to sell an artistic work, and...

Being filmed in the street by
Damot
If I'm walking down a public street and there's a TV camera crew
filming, am I entitled to refuse them to film me?
Or is being in a public place mean they can broadcast my picture to
millions of people without my permission? What if I have something to
hide?
Obviously we see street scenes all the time, but what if someone
actually walks up and complains? I wonder if you can stop...

Theoretical question by
Bystander
Usenet is a resource which varies from the boring to the useful to the
maddening. I am told that in the past some people have taken it so seriously
that they have taken legal action against other users.
Now this question is, mark you, entirely theoretical and no reference is
intended or to be inferred to any persons living or dead,

In the event that a user had a track record of...

Fathers 4 Justice 2 charged with a Public Order Offence by
The TERMinator
The two who caused chaos in the Commons yesterday have been charged with a
Section 5 Public Order Act Offence; using words within the hearing of a
person likely to be caused alarm, harassment, or distress!
This offence carries only a fine!
I would have thought, criminal damage and/or assault would have been far
more appropriate!
On another related matter the pair were held for almost 24 hours!...

Egg labelling by
Martyn
I'm led to believe that nowadays egg boxes are supposed to be labelled.
ie
'Free Range'
'Hens kept in barns'
or 'Hens kept in cages' (battery cages).
My local shop is still selling eggs labelled only as 'Fresh Farm' eggs,
which , as far as I can see, means nothing; (therefore they're probably
battery eggs).
I've told them twice that I believe it's illegal, but they've not changed.
Am I right in...

Fathers' protest disrupts Synod by

" Fathers' rights activists have disrupted the Sunday service of the
Church of England's General Synod with a rooftop protest on York
Minster. A dozen members of Fathers 4 Justice, dressed as monks,
vicars and nuns, have been arrested after storming the historic
cathedral. "
Interesting article, if only for the assumptions made - the protesters

Consent orders by
AB
Hi,
I have a somewhat unique problem....
I am divorced from a NZ woman who has returned to NZ with my 2 sons. As part
of our divorce (in the UK in 2003) I was advised (somewhat poorly I feel
now) to accept a very expensive settlement deal giving my exwife a monthly
sum of £1150, split as £400 per child plus £350 for her. My children are
aged 6 and 9. I have a take home salary of £3000 so she was...

Illegal to be a lawyer? by
Socrates
I will employ devious smallprint and screw clients wherever possible. I
will charge OTT prices for everything, but promise nothing and return
nothing more than a small compilation of free information. If I
need to, I'll refer clients to a solicitor....
How would your service be any different from that offered by a solicitor?
Yours faithfully,

Box junction cameras by
Brian Hughes
Does anyone know how the new box junction penalties are enforced? Is
it endorsable or not? Are they enforced like parking tickets, where
it's the vehicle owner's problem, or like speed camera tickets, where
the vehicle keeper has to finger the driver at the time?
