Procedure for appeal by
Alasdair Baxter
Could someone please advise me what the procedure is to lodge an
appeal to the Court of Appeal (Criminal Division)? It is not an
appeal against conviction or sentence but against a Crown Court
Judge's refusal of an application to lift reporting restrictions under
section 4 (2) of the Contempt of Court Act, 1981.

when does a bus lane end... sign or markings? by
dave @ stejonda
I understand that it is not road markings that determine parking
restrictions but the signs nearby. But what about bus lanes?
As part of my daily commute I approach the roundabout at Goose Green
junction with Lordship Lane from the direction of Dog Kennel Hill (S.
London). This road has two lanes the inside one of which is marked on
the road surface as a bus lane. This marking continues right up...

'sub judice' - what does it really mean in practice? by
Pat Winstanley
I came across the following definition the other day:
The OED (online) defines this as:
"6. sub judice, lit. ‘under a judge’; under the consideration of a judge
or court; undecided, not yet settled, still under consideration."
What does "sub judice" actually mean in practical terms in English law,
and how does it relate to the various stages of pre-action, action,
post-action etc?

Bluepoint returns by
Fred
I had to return some faulty memory back to Bluepoint. They sent a
replacement part which was not the same as original and indeed is somewhat
cheaper.
After I said this was an unacceptable replacement they won't reply to any
further emails.
Has anyone else had a similar experience?

footway by
Harv
Hello
I've been reading an old conveyance document that I came across which states
my neighbours have "right of footway for the time being" across my property.
This document is very old and seems to have been written when the adjoining
properties were shops. Anyway that aside I was just wondering what exactly
is right of footway. Does this entitle them to ride or push motorbikes and
wheelie...

Neighbour constantly dishing out verbal abuse for no reason. by
~::~moviesuk~::~
Hi there,
I am wondering if anyone can help/advise accordingly here in a matter that
is seriously getting out of hand.
My friends have a neighbour 4 doors down (end house) who has the most foul
mouth I have ever come across ( for a middle aged woman). Round the back of
the houses are the drives to each house, you park your car right up to your
back door. My friends dad was trying to reverse a...

Blunkett starts battle for control of police by
Derek Hornby
From The Times 26 June 2004
By Stewart Tendler and Sean O'Neill
A battle for control of Britain's police forces was under way last night as
the Home Office prepared to go to court to remove the chief constable at the
heart of the Soham vetting scandal from his job.
David Blunkett is furious that Humberside Police Authority ignored his order
to suspend David Westwood, the police chief savaged...

administration and money owed. by
M.E.R.
I done some work for a company many many months ago, the contract was
for £100,000.
I received half of this, and then the company hit hard times, and
couldn't afford to pay me the remainder.
As I have a good friend that worked there, so I didn't pressure too
much, now the company is in administration, the administrators said it
is highly unlikely I will receive any of the money owed to me...

Parking Fine by
Rob Summers
Hello,
Could do with a little advice concerning a parking ticket I received
on my Moped this morning. I had parked my moped and locked it to some
bike racks (not specifically labelled as only for bicycles) and I have
parked there before with no problems.
The diagram below shows where I parked and the *'s indicate no waiting
signs and that's why I got a ticket! Even though it wasn't parked...

Is someone leaving a car parking space always to blame for the accident ? by
Andrew Norman
I was involved in a collision in a car park a couple of months ago and
I find it hard to believe that what my insurance company is telling me
is true.
The car park is one way, with spaces on either side, at right angles
to the road. The road is roughly 15 feet wide. There is a bend in the
road, near where the accident happened. The car park has a 5mph speed
limit posted.
I had just pulled into...

Recovering money from bank by
Steve H
Hi all,
A little while ago I posted about the impending bankruptcy of the
executor of a wound-up lottery syndicate. In my post, I mentioned a
bank account that he'd been paying the winnings into, which had been
frozen pending his bankruptcy. (As a reminder, he was supposed to pay
winnings into a syndicate building society account, but for reasons of
his own had been paying into an account he...

Sion Jenkins appeal by
Derek Hornby
Part of a Guardian article 6th July6 2004
The pressure increased when 10 days after the killing police told Mrs Jenkins
that blood spatters found on her husband's clothes showed he was the killer.
Mrs Jenkins, who occasionally glanced from the witness box across the appeal
court at her ex-husband who sat behind bars in the dock, said she was sitting
on a bed at home when she was told. "I think...

Sion Jenkins appeal by
Anon.
I was reading the transcript of Jenkins' previous appeal, which The Todal
kindly posted on uk.legal (http://www.homepage-link.to/JUSTICE/Jenkins/) and
one particular comment by the judges struck me as a bit odd:
"85. However, we have no hesitation in rejecting the suggestion that the
police embarked on a deliberate campaign to influence the children and taint
their evidence so as to damage the...
