Regarding linked chargeable transactions. by
Alasdair
I am in the process of selling my house, a 2 bedroom flat with garage
in separate block, at an asking price of circa 270,000.
A potential buys wants to stay under the stamp duty threshold (250k).
A solution that has been broached is that I should remove the garage
from the sale. The garage is probably sellable in its own right for
10-15k or so anyway, so it seems quite reasonable.

co-op bank duplicity by
peter lawless
Each time I contacted the Co-op bank I was nagged about 'topping-up' my
loan. After declining their offer several times, I eventually agreed to
increase my loan, but I was surprised to find that they had raised the APR
by 2% without telling me. They were advertising much lower rates than I am
paying now.
When I realised this, and before I signed the new agreement, I cancelled the
loan.
I then...

Transfer of Property Asset - Tax Liability by
Skinny
Got a similar situation. Best advice seems to be.
Draw up or get a solicitor to draw up an agreement between yourselves & the
company whereby you become responsible for the management & insurance of the
property in return for rights to any rent received from tenants.
Then re-let the building with yourselves as the landlord (naturally declare
the rent as income on your tax returns)
Make the...

shorthold tenancy, notice period by
Benedict White
I have been giving some advice on the same subject in uk.legal, and
wondered if someone could either confirm or correct my advice:
See below:
Hi!
We live in a rented house (England, Yorkshire, if this matters); this is
an assured shorthold tenancy. The contract was signed 16 August 2003.

Jewellery maker/seller: others on eBay copying original work, look, style, etc by
Julie Brandon
How do,
My sister makes original jewellery by hand and sells it on eBay; doing so
forms an essential part of her and her partner's income (which is often
pretty low, overall.)
She often goes to considerable time and effort making entirely unique and
original pieces, often taking anything from a few hours up to the best part
of a days works.

Website liability ? by
Colin Wilson
I`m thinking of setting up a "fun" website where visitors will be able to
"name and shame" ex-partners who strayed. There would probably be a
facility built in by which they could upload a photo of the ex-partner,
and to sort their "rants" by location (ie. north-west).
As I would simply provide a means for which they could vent their spleen,
and will happily remove any that are objected to,...

In January 2002 a full formal valuation was...

Buying pasture land (newbie) by
Bruno
We are going to start looking Warwickshire for some pasture land to keep the
horses on
although the other half has kept horses for nearly 25 years we have no
experience with buying our own land
We plan to spend up to £100k next year so we need to research this well!
Does anybody know of a website or such where we can look at the potential
legal pit falls of buying land etc
thanks all

Builders working in dangerous conditions by
D.M. Procida
Across the road from our house there are builders working on a (very)
sloping roof. There are not using harnesses, just standing on the tiles.
If they slip, they will miss the scaffolding and go all the way down to
the concrete. It's a long way down.
Is this legal? To my admittedly untrained eye, they look like they are
working in very dangerous conditions. Is there any kind of health and
safety...

eBay is continuing to charge dormant account by
Chris Brady
I've fallen foul of eBay – please what can I do?
eBay is continuing to invoice me for my ‘sellers' account WHEN I AM
NOT USING IT?
I set up an eBay account for a one-time sale earlier this year. All
payments for this were fully cleared. My balance account then was zero
– that is £0.
Yet eBay is still billing me every month for 'membership' that I am

This happened tonight... by
Gorf
It didn't, actually, but when I posted it 48 hours ago, it didn't show up
for some reason.
This is a rarity - I only subscribed this morning, and usually I lurk for
a
bit before my first post to a group.
We've lived at our current abode for 18 months, and I'm amazed something
this has only just happened.

do i have to show up at the hearing?? by
Ill Frilly Wig
i wonder if someone here can help me
quite unfairly, someone managed to get a ccj against me and now he
wants to send the bailiffs round. i found out from the court staff
that i could apply to have the warrant suspended and I could also fix
things so i pay him monthly instead of all at once, not that i want to
pay him at all because i don't owe him anything.
the problem is that this vindictive...

Wheely Bins by

I live in an area where the local authority provide wheely bins for the
collection of domestic refuse. The instruction that comes with these bins

House purchase - is this legal? by
bluefizz
I looked at a bungalow yesterday which was perfect for me in every way
except - the very narrow stairway leading to where the roof had been
converted to a giant bedroom.
The stairway was roughly half the width of a normal stairway, 3 steps
up then 90 degrees left and the rest leading upwards.
Because the stairway is so narrow, furniture cannot be got up/down it
- even in flat packs.
