Tickets will not be exchanged or refunded by
Rob Nicholson
I've just accidentally booked the wrong time for some film tickets on the
UGC website due mainly to their poor website interface. I have a Lloyds TSB
VISA card which is also a DELTA card. I went through the process of picking
the cinema, film, date and time and then entering my card details saying
it's a VISA card. It was declined. I've used this card many times for buying
things on the Internet...

Job Reference Problems by
Mr Nobody
I am currently looking for employment, after recently resigning from
my previous position.
Whilst employed by my previous employer, I underwent (relatively
minor) disciplinary proceedings which am obviously keen my previous
employer does not mention on any reference to a potential new
employer.
It is the stated policy of my previous employer (as is the case with
many organisations these days)...

Accident/injury at work - advice sought please by
CryOnwards
Hello, I have never posted to this NG before, but I hope someone helpful
here may be able to help me out. A few days ago there was an accident at
work (totally not my fault) resulting in myself being showered in broken
glass. I have got some cuts on my hand and arm, nothing major. After I had
taken a bit of glass out my finger and washed the blood off it didn't seem
all bad, but now a couple of...

Lawyer dropped fraud case halfway through trial by
Derek Hornby
Hi all
Just read this in today's Sunday Telegraph.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
A LEADING barrister stopped representing his client in the middle of a fraud
trial after his daily rate was reduced to £600 when the man ran out of funds
and had to take legal aid.
Alun Jones, a Queen's Counsel who had already earned more than £250,000 from

What happened to the contract? by
SteveR
You may recall that I had a dispute with a costume maker, and won the
case in Small Claims on a no-show.
I found that all items in her terms of business (except two which were
things like "we can do special prices for bulk and children's costumes")
were judged to be unfair by the OFT in 2000, and that she undertook to
withdraw them. *All* of them, that is.
The terms she was using when I did...

Theoretical question: delivery by instalments... by
SteveR
Here's a question for theoretical discussion, and this time one where
there's no "I've done this, HELP!!!" hiding behind it...
Following my recent experiences with partial deliveries, I was thinking
about how this might apply in the case of software. It's very common
that when one "buys" a piece of software, one finds a need to go to the
Internet and download one or more patches before it works...

rights of unwanted tenents by

I let a friend stay at my house that was empty whilst he got his life back
together. There was no formal arrangement and he never paid a penny rent.
This weekend he phoned me and told me he has moved in a family of immigrants
as they were homeless and being a Christian felt he should help them. I told
him I wanted them out within 24h but he said they would all be out within
48h. This time has...

Copyright law/Freelance photography by

Ok, from a re-enactment even this week I have some shots that one of the
re-enactors wants to use of the images. The images are of the actors
themselves. The shots was taken on NTS property at a open event. All
that's visible of the property is a relatively nondescript wall.
1) What are my options regarding usage of the photographs? Do I have to
ask National Trust for Scotlands permission before...

Lawful state surveillance in Zimbabwe compared to the UK by

"Two years ago parliament passed a telecommunications act which required all

The law also forbade the service providers from informing clients that their

SODeM Charity Bike Club Legal advice needed please by
ß Ø ® G
Three years ago I moved into a flat with no garage. I joined a
disabled motorcycle club/charity. I am registered disabled.
They said they would take my trike away and re wire it, build a new
electrical box and sort it out and MOT it. Well work was slow and the
excuses seemed probable, moving unit and getting new premises.
Then a few months ago they admitted that an ex member had stolen a...

Signing false statement. What consequences ?. by
Bloomin Heck
A party to litigation was ordered to file an affidavit
detailing the name of a person. They filed an affidavit
but did not name that person but attached an unsigned
witness statement that contained an "explanation" purporting
to be a reason that they should not have to comply with the
Order to name the person. The Court then Ordered them to
sign that witness statement. They were meant to have...

University students' right to have their work properly assessed by
What Happened?
A large academic school at a British University:
1. ran into a funding crisis
2. sacked a large number of its part-time tutors
3. told others that they would lose their jobs shortly, but these
were so unhappy at the way that they were being treated that they
simply walked out (at least one is seeking an unfair constructive
dismissal against the university)
