Question about Pubs by
tim
"Guderian" wrote in message
...
Can a pub completely close for a private party? I could see closing a
room,
but the entire pub and refusing to admit anyone without an invitation.
legally yes,
There are some tenances where this would be against the tenancy
agreement but AIUI this isn't very common now.

OrmesbyJohn
I'd be grateful for any advice ref this...
Friend about to sell her property. She now no longer wishes to do this and
is worried about any financial liability of pulling out at this late stage.
The stage she is at is...she heard from her Estate Agent on Friday that
"Contracts have now been Exchanged".
She's not sure exactly what that means. She hasn't signed any Contract.
If she tells her Agent...

The new legal aid system for immigration appeals by
Richard Miller
Having been forced to come up with a new appeals level to the Courts for
the new immigration tribunal, Lord Falconer has also announced that he
will be implementing a plan put forward by the Lord Chief Justice for
legal aid for this appellate body.
According to Hansard, the judges will decide at the end of the case
whether the lawyer will get paid or not. They will be paid if they score
a "win"...

question on contract workers by
mo
I have worked under contract (owner self employed van driver) for the same
company for 5years and have recieved only one payrise in that time despite
bringing the matter up on numerous occasions. Also, there is no time off,if i
want time off I have to arrange my own cover.
Does anyone know what rights if any I have ,or is it a case of "lump it or
leave it" which is the companies attitude.
thanks.

Man forces train to stop. by
Alasdair Baxter
From Yesterday's Daily Telegraph:
"As Simon Taylor stood on the platform of his local station, waiting
for the 6.40 to take him to London and an important appointment, an
announcement told him his train would not be stopping.
It was the last straw for Taylor, a 47-year-old property manager,
whose daily journey to the office was bedevilled by delays,
cancellations and over-crowding. After...

S.42 Question by
Bloomin Heck
Just out of interest. (a) What exactly would it take to get yourself
declared vexatious under S.42 ?. Would 2 or 3 struck out actions be
sufficient , or would it be like 50 or so ?.
(b) Would they take other steps first, like 3.4.2 Grepe & Lome
etc ,or could they go straight for the Jugular immediately without
any of those afore steps ?
(c) how does the Attorney General get to know of the person...

Is voting anonymous by
Cheeky
I live in a region (North West) where it's an all postal ballot for EU
and local elections. The forms we received are in two parts. A
declaration of identity (countersigned) and the ballot paper itself.
The declaration goes in one envelope inside the envelope you return
the ballot paper with. Both parts have a unique barcode and code on
them and I'm a little concerned that this means that the...

Sustainable or not ? by
Bloomin Heck
Would the following proposition be sustainable
or not;
(a) The Judge hearing the action was Judge xxx QC .
A "QC" is a Barrister who has been given the title of
"QC" by the Government. The Government choose which
Barristers should be QC's and there is much envy of
them because of the high increase in earnings that
the mark "QC" can achieve. Therefore it...

Order to exist for lifetime by
Bloomin Heck
I wonder what opinions are as to whether an Order to exist
for a lifetime is excessive and/or or same question again
with the addition of "without hearing all evidence or giving
opportunity to challenge that evidence" .
Look forward to your thoughts.

Thought this might be interesting:
AIDS SHOCK FOR WITNESS
(Synopsis: suspect has blood sample taken, charges are dropped, instead
of sample being destroyed, it is tested for AIDS. Positive test, man
learns about this when he appears in court as a prosecution witness.
Man shocked, Judge very cross).

Summary Judgment case by
Bloomin Heck
Somewhere within a fairly recent case I have read in regard
to Part 24 applications the words "the application is not to become
a trial of the action in itself" appear in Judgment. Does anyone
know the case ?.
What I am trying to show is that it would be unfair to
,effectively, rule upon an action/s without first hearing
the full evidence of both parties and have cross examination...

Distribution of sentences? by
Dr Zoidberg
Are there any figures made publicly available to show how sentences given
for various offences are distibuted.
I'd be interested in knowing what percentage of people get the maximum (or
close to it) sentence , how many get the bare minimum etc
