Organisations and Truth by
RossClement@gmail.com
If an organisation is a charity, and exists to distribute information,
is there any legal requirement that information they distribute should
be accurate? If they were knowingly distributing inaccurate
information, is there any way this can be stopped.
There is no personal loss due to the misinformation, nor is it sexist,
racist, etc.

Agreement - analysis by
mark
Hello,
I have submitted my CV in an international job agency, the reply to
which came very soon. The company searching for employees has its
headquarters in Australia. Since the offer they made is unbelievably
profitable, I would like to inquire is their agreement has no hidden
meaning. I would be grateful for the analysis.

Cancel BT internet. by
ABC[_2_]
I have complained to BT using email stating that I believe my Internet
service is not adequate - specifically too slow and sometime dropping out.
Usually, my emails are ignored. On the rare occasion I do get a response it
is either clearly a 'standard' template which claims that I need to clear my
cache, check the wiring in my house, etc. or else it is some barely legible
reply that seems...

Cancelling Will by
erehwon_towers@hotmail.co.uk
In 1976, I made a will at a solicitors in north London, leaving all my
assets to a religious group based in London. Subsequently. I moved to
E Anglia, and in 1982 got a local solicitor to add a codicil to my
will, leaving my assets to a seperate branch of the same religious
group, based in E. Anglia.
I have the original copy of my will, and of the codicil. The

spammer small claims by
Mike[_8_]
There is a thread running in the other place of the same title.
One of the characters who has posted there has said that I should have
got an injunction as part of the action through the small claims
track.
I have asked - could I have done that, what would it have achieved,
what would it have cost - but have had no response.
Can anyone oblige please?

Company Vs Statutory Paternity Leave by
markyboy72@googlemail.com
My wife and I are expecting our second child in September and I would
like to take some time off work at the time of the birth.
My company have the standard part in our employee manual about the
statutory leave i.e. I can choose to take 1 or 2 weeks paternity
leave. In addition to that the company states that it will pay "normal
salary for the first 3 days of Paternity Leave. This payment will...

Comet and the SOGA by
Jon Ross
Hi all,
A little over 3 years ago I bought a £2200 TV from Comet which has now
died. My wife went into the shop we bought it from and requested a
repair under the SOGA. An engineer inspected the TV and said it was
quite a common problem and that he would arrange a pickup for repair
(this was 2 weeks ago).
This morning I rang the service center for an update and was told that
the estimated...

Can an employer stop you having holidays? by
michael
I work for a large supermarket chain and have been told by Human
Resource that i can't take my holidays during the period of June, July
or August because these months are booked up solid by fellow employees.
The supermarket have a scheme where only ten percent of the workforce
can be off at any given time and as a result the main holiday period of
June, July and August are fully booked.

Can I remove a fence our neighbour has just put on our land? by
foxyrick@gmail.com
My neighbour has just erected a fence on my land this morning while we
were out.
There is a shared outbuilding between our two houses; it has seperate
rooms in it but the overall structure spans both properties.
There's a very small sketch of what it looks like he

Using shared drain; neighbour saying he'll sue us for trespass by
dontincludemefoxyrick@gmail.com
Hmm... not content with trying to take a square metre of our back
garden, our neighbour has just sprung this one. No doubt to try to
bully us into letting them have the land at the back but...
Our houses (the whole row of semi's) were built for and once owned by
the police for accommodation of coppers. They were split and sold.
There are shared outbuildings between each pair of semi's and...

Copyright of old photos by
the Omrud[_2_]
It's of no great importance, but I wonder who owns the copyright in
photos which were taken by my grandfather in the 1920s? I have the
negatives, which I've scanned; I'm about to start sending electronic
copies to local history groups in the area where he grew up.
Is the copyright expired, or do I create a new copyright by processing them?

legality of announced phone-call recordings by
Elizabeth
As a matter of course, I record non-private telephone-calls. At the
beginning of the call, I announce the fact that I am recording the call.
The reason for my recordings is that I like to have a record of the call
in case a dispute should arise.
I record directly onto the PC.
Today, the member of a banking call centre staff would have me believe
that my recording the call was illegal. I do not...

Unsolicited smutty jokes by text by
TheOldFellow
My wife has started to receive texts containing smutty jokes. She calls
them 'obscene', but in truth they are childishly smutty. The number from
which they originate is not one we recognise. After four or five of
these over a period of a couple of weeks, Mrs TOF is getting fed up with
them.
We texted back to say the the texts were not wanted, and please desist.
That may be the end of it...

2yr Spouse Visa, separation and repatriation by
slssfw@yahoo.co.uk
Hi there !
I've been listening to the woes of a relative and was wondering what
are the legal ramifications and consequences if a one asks for a
divorce from a spouse who is here on the two year spouse visa ? The
marriage is obviously not working out so if a divorce was filed would
the spouse be repatriated if divorce was agreed ? It is clear that
the spouse in question will try to do most...

DWP - decisions by
Iain[_2_]
Hi,
When the DWP makes a JSA decision, it mentions about 'if you disagree with
this decision', etc.
Is there a legal obligation to allow the claimant to disagree and therefore
appeal against the decision?
What if the DWP, through not replying to any letters, denies any form of
disagreement and access to the appeals process?

Tenacy Agreements Superceded by the law by
Ken
I have been reading on another forum that whatever has been signed for on a
tenancy agreement it is superseded by the law in connection with Landlords
and Tenants. Is this true as one of my children is due to give notice on her
flat thinking she had to give one months from the date but has spotted it is
two months notice.

Legal status of repeating fault on car by
Chris Darkfire
Hi
Bought a brand new car (Renault) from local main dealer in Seot 2005.
The UCH (computer unit that controls wipers amongst other things) has
failed three times since I've had it - wipers have stopped working or
won't turn off.
Main dealer have always diagnosed the fault as the UCH each time and
replaced under warrenty with no question.

Encrypted data and compulsion by

In the news recently, two well known British executives were arrested
by US police for suspicion of dodgy dealings with a third country.
Among the items confiscated were laptops and Blackberries. Photocopies
of hardcopy documents were allegedly made by the US authorities.
Under the assumption that hard drives of defence-related organisations
would be encrypted, under what circumstances can...

Divorce - Legality of LSC claim for statutory charge 22 years later by
Alidad Soud
Hi, I am a personal advocate for a lady client who went through avery bad divorce 22 years ago and came out with virtually nothing, thanks to a very poor solicitor who did nothing (and even actively refused) to enforce enforce court orders which would have preserved legitimate 50% interests in joint assetts. This is the reverse of the usual situation where men lose out! Cut to the chase. 22...
