Letters From: Credit Services Association/Debt Buyers and Sellers Group by
richardveevers@googlemail.com
About 10 years ago I was in my early 20s' and flat sharing with
friends and others.
We generally neglected to pay council tax and other assorted bills
(very guesstimated at £7000).
Inevitably 10 yrs later I have ended up receiving letters from a debt
buyer asking for information about my residence at one of my old
address'.
Would anyone offer any advice (apart from "Told you so!") as to my
best...

Access to CCTV (car accident) by
fred[_4_]
Can anyone explain how to get access to CCTV footage. My car was
parked in a car park at a local activities centre on saturday. During
the time it was parked another vehicle collided with it and drove away
without leaving details. We kno there is CCTV footage which will
identify the vehicle. The Activities centre will only release the
footage to the Police and the Police refuse to look at it...

Opinions on a tree. by
The Wanderer
I'm after opinions on what to do about an oak sapling in my next door
neighbour's hedge.
I have a conservatory which runs up to the boundary, and stops just a few
inches inside the actual boundary. Conservatory end wall extends into a 6
-7ft garden wall, also just a few inches inside the boundary. This screens
my swimming pool.
Neighbour has planted leylandii, to screen wall, and keeps them...

musical copyright (again!) - George Gershwin by
Mike Scott
I notice that George Gershwin died in 1937 - so presumably his work is
fair game for copying/modifying/performing in the UK and Europe. But I
gather there's something weird about US law that extends copyright there
for another 30 years or so..... does this affect the UK at all?

Holiday Entitlement by
Jan Hyde (VB MVP)
A company I know of has just told their employees that no
further holidays will be granted to any employee for the
rest of the year (year runs march to march I believe)
As I understand it this means that some employees will be
unable to take to four weeks holiday they are legally
entitled to, others won't be able to take the extra holidays
they are entitled to as per their contract.
Some...

Help, I've been Bosched by
GB
I bought a Bosch dishwasher to replace one they sold us 10 years ago. It's
what's called semi-integrated, so it's designed to have a cupboard door
panel installed on the front of it. It arrived on 25 Jan, and I installed
it.
The only trouble is that the door has a tendency to swing up and knock you
in the teeth as you load it. I rang Bosch and asked them to send a guy out
to look at it. The...

Article 7 and Planning Application by
Chaudhry Nijjhar
Hi,
We have a neighbour who played dirty trick on me. He applied for extension
of his house and in his Planning application, he knowingly showed
encroachment about a Metre into my backyard. So, frightened of
encroachment, we spent £2000 to build a fence on our side which he should
have done to replace the broken fence. He was laughing that he need not
spend money and also got a strip of...

(c) modifying another web author's work by
Del[_2_]
I want to offer businesses 'updates' and 'modifications' to their existing
sites, (such as adding a search tool, form mail, flash stream video/mp3) but
will this breach any copyright to the original author?
Thanks in advance

Another builder dispute by
Cullen Skink[_2_]
Hi
My boss had some building work carried out as part of his business. His Ltd
company paid £10,000 up front for certain work. This work was carried out
to a poor standard. Partway through the work, (before the quality issues
became apparent) he arranged to have more work carried out related to the
first job. The builder agreed verbally to take property instead of money
for payment. The...

CSA backdated! by
Dewi...
How long can a claim be made via the CSA.
i.e. if they had a chance say 3 years ago to make a claim, but didn't
and now makes a claim, can the 3 years be backdated?
What if the youngest child is now over 18 and the parents were
separated 5 years ago, can a claim be made for the 5 years?

Entry to rented property by
armitage_thanks@yahoo.com
Hi,
It has transpired that somebody (associate or employee of my landlord, not sure
yet) has entered my rented property in order to retrieve a key, that was
visible on a porch window ledge, to let themselves into an outside toilet that
is attached to my property.
As far as I am concerned the toilet is part of the property and this person has
no rights to be using it (although they probably...

Drainage problem by
Netty[_2_]
I live in a row of 4 terraced houses. We have a communal path which runs the
length of the houses at the back with small gardens on the other side of the
path. Under this path is an antiquated sewer pipe which then runs down the
side of house A and attaches to the main sewer system in the road. (I live
in house C).
Yesterday I noticed that property B have blocked drains and whatever goes...

Can financial interest in a foreign property be relinquished by private agreement? by
Howie
Hi all. Hope you can help.
An unmarried couple own a property in Spain in joint names.
However, their other joint UK financial dealings mean that they
have decided that it is now fairer that only one of them owns
this property. The owner to which it is being transferred is not
intending to sell it and an official transfer to sole-ownership
would effectively mean huge costs as this requires an...

company administration by
jimbeglin@hotmail.com
Hi
I was wondering if anyone can offer some advice?
The company I work for went into administration and ceased trading
about 6 months ago. The company was bought by another company once it
had gone into administration and subsequently changed it's name.
Around half the employees were kept on with the new company. As yet
the employees do not have contracts under the new company. Does this
seem...

Witness statements - access (FOI?) by
Ian Jackson
I'm involved in a dispute with the police about a road crash where
there ought (IMO) to have been a prosecution but wasn't. I now need
to prepare my 2nd IPCC appeal. (The first was successful but only
told the police they had to investigate my complaint properly.)
For various reasons, for preparing this appeal, I need to get access
to copies of the various witness statements. There were two...

Not informed of AGM, offence? by
Jack[_3_]
Residents own the company that manages the estate and a Managing Agent is
employed.
I have had run-ins with the Managing Agent in the past and they have not
sent me notice of AGMs for several years.
I thought they may not have held any, however they recently replied they
held one last summer "as usual".
If they have deliberately not informed me in advance of any AGM (in case I

Settlements and mediation by
GB
I recently sat in on a mediation in a case involving a private client suing
a large corporation for a large sum of money. The client's legal team
thought he had a 70% chance of winning (and a 30% chance of losing).
So, the client had a 70% chance of receiving a large sum, and a 30% chance
of paying out a largish but not huge amount for costs. This puts the client
in a difficult position,...

Parking regulations on 'drives'/garages without a dropped kerb by
jamesb1029[_2_]
Hello,
Unintentionally I'd parked across a gateway to a garage, sounds silly and
it probably was, unfortunately the thing I paid the most attention to on
getting out and shutting the door was the kerb, since it wasn't dropped, my
brain apparently didn't feel the need to follow anything up any further (I
could also see a 6ft stone wall to the front and side of me and failed to
notice the...
