Can you ignore these red no entry signs? by Ken
A number of cars enter my local Asda store by way of the 'no entry route' even though there are clear no entry signs. I think the signs belong to and were erected by the store and they are just within their land. So are there any laws being broken I wonder? Apart from whether the law is being broken I know it is dangerous as those who have entered the car park from the right route will not...

Charges registry question by D
Hi Everyone Sorry if this is a bit long but I wanted to include anything that may appear relevant to those in the know. I downloaded the title registry entry from the land registry for a house I had look at today and I just wondered if anyone out there could clarify the meanings of the last entry in the Charges Register from this document. The register read as follows:

benefit (possible) overpayment - how many enquiries before keeping cash? by bealoid
"Bill" thinks he's been overpaid some housing benefit. He's checked with the coucil, several times and different people, and they seem to think they've got it right. They've written a letter to confirm it. How many checks should Bob make before he can keep (and thus spend) the cash? Obviously "Bill" is me. The (possibly) overpaid benefit is HB. I was getting IB, this was stopped and I...

Small claims court: claimants and "legal/lay representative" by Allan Gould
A friend finished renting a house in Leeds last July, and went back to France for work reasons. She is still waiting for her deposit back - having left instructions with her former landlord that the cheque should be posted to me. The property was left in good condition, utility bills were paid, and little or no communication has been received from the landlord. We are within 14 days of...

My car has been towed - do I have any recourse? by James[_3_]
The situation is as follows: I visit a gym who had an agreement with the car park across the road. The agreement was the gym's users can use the car park as long as a permit is displayed. Tonight I parked my car at approx 19:30 and displayed me permit. Upon on leaving the gym I saw posters in the gym alerting users that this agreement no longer exists. I walk outside and my car is gone, it...

Power of Attorney by G Hardy
Is it possible for power of attorney to be worded in such a way for the donor to lose their rights to draw on their bank account (for example)? The donor (in this case) still has full mental capacity, but their attorney is upset that the donor has unilaterally gifted some money without asking their "consent".

Training course fee Questioned by lost in space
I did a training course recently which was quite expensive and at the end of the course I had to get accredited (registered) with the same company so that I could work and use there software systems for inputting data (this was originally going to cost extra). Unfortunately at that time due to delays, I realized along with other trainees that there would be very little work available and was...

outstanding items after will is completed by noname
If a relative dies and the will is settled and completed (except for one item because the executors and the company holding stocks in the name if the deceased did not communicate properly), this one item is forgotten. Then 3 years later a stock statement appears still in the name of the deceased. The value is around 1500 GBP. What is the process to distribute the one item? Does / can the...

http://tinyurl.com/2z97wp 'RED-faced police chiefs have apologised after an amateur photographer was stopped from taking photographs at the town's Christmas lights switch-on. Phil Smith, 49, was stunned when he was escorted out of the crowd of thousands gathered on the Corn Hill by two special constables after they told him he needed a licence to take pictures at the public event in November.

Speeding Summons by James
I have received a summons for a speeding camera offense that happened on 30th July. I received an NIP within a fortnight, and replied that I could not be sure of the drivers identity, and asked for additional evidence that would assist this. I didn't receive anything more until yesterday, the summons for Mid January. This is for 2 offenses; the initial speeding (50 mph in a 40) and failure...
