dna by
tregaskin
was recently arrested for common assault on my hysterical wife.
it was a first time experience - an hour's drive to detention, finger
printed, dna swab, sleep disturbed hourly (do they do that on pupose?)
outcome was "no further action" by the police but "maybe the cps might want
to have a go". it's a month since and i figure that the cps aren't
interested.
what i want to know is how do i get...

Speeding Summons by
James
I have received a summons for a speeding camera offense that happened on
30th July. I received an NIP within a fortnight, and replied that I could
not be sure of the drivers identity, and asked for additional evidence that
would assist this. I didn't receive anything more until yesterday, the
summons for Mid January. This is for 2 offenses; the initial speeding (50
mph in a 40) and failure...

Wills and children by
D.M. Procida
My girlfriend and I are making our wills. In the event that we both die,
her brother and his partner will become the guardian of our children
(now aged 10).
What would happen to the children in the unlikely event all four of us -
parents and appointed guardians - were to be tragically killed together?
Do they go straight to the workhouse/orphanage, or is there some process
which works out what...

returns and Maplin? by
bealoid
A man buys a metal detector for his son as a Christmas present.
The boy tries it, says it doesn't work.
The man carefully reads, adn follows, the instructions. Man decides item
is broken.
Man goes to Maplin to return item, and is refused a refund because "I think
it's working, and you've waited longer than 14 days to bring it back". Man
is offered the chance of a delayed refund, if he...

anti-social call times. by
Alan
I have been phoned by a credit card company. Unfortunately, I could not
fully hear/understand what the person was saying and I refused to answer
any questions put to me. The person, effectively, called me a liar and
in my opinion, tried to intimate me to confirm security details. I
replaced the receiver and I wrote to the company requesting they do not
contact me by phone (by letter was...

Anyone been in this situation?
Person A sells a car to a Motor Trader.

Two months later person A gets a notice of a fine for non-payment of

Flat flooring: Health vs. lease considerations by
My Pen Name
Dear all,
I own the lease to a small flat (until about 2050) in a converted home
that has carpeting in all rooms except the kitchen and bathroom. The
freehold is owned by the Resident's Association to which I have 1 out
of 3 votes.
The lease agreement states that:
"At all times cover and keep covered with underlay the floors of the
demised premises other than those of the kitchen and bathrooms...

trust deed witness by
Bob
Dear Group
Advice on who can witness a deed, is essential that the person is as
independent as possible, eg not expected to benefit.
Are there any problems with a trustee's close relative witnessing their
signature on a deed, eg a father witnessing a sons signature? As if its
discretionary trust the father could become or is a beneficiary due being a
relative

An interesting problem by
John[_8_]
Happy new year to one and all!
Okay guys, here is an interesting problem.
A friend of mine owns a farm. When his farther died (many years ago) the
farmed owed a lot of money out and the two sons (one being my friend) had to
go to court and sort out all the debts owed. The judge ruled that the two
brothers would be partners in the farm and hence the debt. Okay, my friend
worked hard on the...

Cost of deed poll or statutory declarations? by
bealoid
I know that a person may change their name at any time, so long as they're
not intending to defraud, and that they do not need deed polls or statutory
declarations to do so.
But, I need to know how much it costs to have deed polls or statutory
declarations prepared and notarised.
Assume that a fella walks into the first few solicitors he sees, doesn't do
any research. How much is he likely...

Solicitors running off with money from clients accounts? by
Ken
I know this must be very rare but I remember a case many years ago with one
chap who went to my old school. Does it happen very often and will the
clients affected be able to claim their money from anywhere. e.g. The Law
Society. The reason I am asking is I know someone who has been waiting for
the proceeds of the sale of a business for several months but the solicitor
is saying it can't be...

What to do with this section of the allocation questionnaire? by
Howie
Hi.
Thanks so much for all help here previously, I'm afraid that
there's still a bit more to do and I hope that I can get a bit
more help on this. Thanks very much in advance.
As defendants, we filed our defence and counterclaim and have now
been sent an allocation questionnaire which contains a few areas
I am uncertain about. I wonder if there's any chance of some
quick answers...

Court hearing tomorrow - costs by
GB
I have a court hearing tomorrow for a claim I have made for fees owing to me
from a former client. Assuming that I am reasonably successful in getting at
least most of the claim awarded to me, I want to check whether I have got my
costs information straight, please.
I think I have paid 3 lots of court fees:
Claim issuance
Allocation questionnaire, and
Hearing fee

Law Firm - Document Retention Policy by
mali_the_moon@yahoo.com
Hi,
I was wondering if someone can advise, where I can find information
regarding document retention within Law Firms. I have some info on
how long Wills and related documents should be kept from the Law
Society website. However I am struggling to find retention
information on other documents.
Thanks,
