without prejudice by Dewi...
If this is written and referred to in a letter, does it mean; I didn't say what I wrote... I say what I do in the letter without confirming... I say these things to test the water... or could someone say what it means with a bit more understanding of it

Recorded Telephone Conversations by brian white
I am involved in a dispute with a company whose customer relations department gave me advice one day, and the following, denied giving such advice. During the second conversation I was informed " All telephone calls are recorded anyway and I deny saying that Yesterday " 1) I had never been informed that my conversation may be recorded. Is this against the Law ?. 2) Can I obtain a copy of any...

Land Compensation Time Limit by GB
Does anybody know what time limit applies for references of disputes concerning compensation under a Compulsory Purchase Order? Is it 6 years from date of acquisition? Is it different where there is a General Vesting Declaration?

What does a newly instructed solicitor need from client? by Ken
Does this include some form of terms they want signing? Does it include some monies paid in advance? Does it include papers to establish identity for money laundering? I am just trying to understand the procedure from the solicitors view point especially in conveyancing and how long, to collate this information, before the solicitor can get working.

Rent review by Cheeky
I've just had a periodic review of my rent which was, unsurprisingly, in an upward direction. I've since noticed that the company who owns the flats in which I live are offering them out at £50/month less than what they are charging me. All the flats are more-or-less the same in terms of floorspace/layout/rooms etc. I'm a little bit narked at this but are there any grounds to challenge the...

Harrassment for a non-debt by Nick Maclaren
I am being harrassed for a debt that I do not owe by Virgin, who took over NTL (who were the culprits), who took over Cambridge Cable. Basically, I cancelled the service, but NTL's incompetent database management only half-recorded it, and I continued to get bills for the monthly charge. After trying several times to get them stopped, I just ignored them. Virgin have showed that they are...

Taking photographs in hospital by Him & Her
Hi all, I am a regular visitor to a couple of hospitals and a few days ago noticed signs appearing proclaiming a "Phone Zone". They are now allowing the use of mobiles on ward landings, stairwells etc. The sign goes on to state that the use of mobile phone cameras, cameras and other video equipment is not allowed in this area and if caught you will be asked to delete them.

Purchasing a mobile phone by Steve Firth
When I bought a mobile phone in Italy, I was required to produce evidence of my identity and to give my "codice fiscale" which is a sort of combined NI number and income tax account number. I also had to provide evidence of address. This was for a PAYG SIM for a phone. In the UK, it has been a long time since I acquired a mobile phone account so I've not had to do such a thing. However it now...

Divorce by Dewi...
Can i ignore the solicitors papers regarding the divorce? Can I refuse to attend court if it got that far? Can I demonstrate that she is just adding to the costs, when we had originally agreed how we were going to divorce? How best can I pee her off, if she won't negotiate? Ta :-)

Estranged father leaves will to 'friends' of 5 years under possible duress. by daz@daztaylor.co.uk
My father died 5th May 2007 leaving a will to a family he had befriended for 5 years. I have had no contact with my father for 10 years. It now seems the will was signed under possible duress and my step brother (who was in contact with my father but is not my fathers son) has found out the will has gone into probate. I don't know the solicitors or the other family involved and too be honest...

How long does a court order last? by tony.b@false.by.email.address.com
I took someone to court a few years ago over some money they owed me and the court ordered them to pay but never collected the money. Is there a limit on the amount of time they can go after the money? Is there some sort of "statute of limitations" or whatever it may be called? -Tony Bendio-

Job walkout - Holiday/Backpay owed? by Kontaminator
I walked out of a job back in August. I recieve a letter the other day stating that I had an obligation to provide at least one week's notice to terminate contract, as per Section 86 (2) of the Employment Rights Act 1996. I did walk out as I fed up, tense and angry about working there. Don't have a doctors note or any medical document that confirms my mental wellbeing, only myself and...

Enquiry on information collected by the Government by Nick Sterling
If the UK Government has collected information about someone, and the individual seeks to obtain this information, are there any legislative provisions for this? Beyond the Freedom of Information Act? Are there any reasons why such a request would fail, or otherwise not be honoured by the agency who collected the information?
