Software design by
AliMac
Dear Group,
I suppose I know the answer to my question but I thought I would post
it anyway. I have designed a piece of software for a company which has
been installed and is being tested by the company. They have come back
to me many times requesting enhancements and re-design, bugs, etc. I
have never asked for payment over the couple of years developing this
software. I have do not have any...

What can I do about this? by
Alan Holmes
Long and boring!
You have been warned!
Owing to a change in circumstances, I had to dispose of my caravan, which
meant I no longer had a need for a largish car, so I started to look round
for a replacement.
After a while I discovered a company called Trade-Sales, who operate in
Slough, having looked at the cars which were on offer, I was impressed by a

Subject Access Request -- Finance Company. by
Alasdair
If I make a subject access request to my credit card issuer, do they
have to send me all the details they hold about me including things
like date of birth and mother's maiden name? You see, I might have
given an incorrect date of birth and/or mother's maiden name when I
applied for the card since my real date of birth and mother's maiden
name can readily be obtained from public records to...

Child injury by
May Merry
My ex-husband and I have joint custody of our children. The 15 year
old lives with him a considerable distance away.
Son was injured in a trampolining accident yesterday evening. It's
almost 100% certain that his ankle is broken. His father was not
present or at home when the accident happened - these things happen,
of course. When he arrived home two hours later, he did not take him
to...

Incitement of violence towards animals? by
Steve in Herts
What is the legality of inciting violence towards domestic animals in
a public forum?
Specifically, someone has posted a list of methods for killing cats.
While I can appreciate that the domestic cat is not everyone's best
friend, it doesn't seem right that people should be encouraging others
to kill them.

Flat sale by former landlady - advice needed on questionnaire by
Trust No One®
Hi folks,
I'm after the newsgroups advice wrt to the sale of my former landlady's
flat.
The situation is that I rented the flat for several years until she decided
to sell up, at which point I duly gave notice and left the property about 2
months ago.
Now the ongoing sale has hit a bit of an impasse in that the solicitors for

Age of Marriage Act 1929 by
Alasdair
This is the act which increased the age at which people could get
married to 16. Prior to that (relatively recent) date a girl could
marry at age 12 and a boy at age 14.
However, I note that the act is not listed in the Statute Law Database
at www.statutelaw.gov.uk and when I queried this with their helpdesk,
I got the reply that it had been repealed by 1991 which is their...

Acceptance of an offer or cheque by
fjmd1@yahoo.co.uk
Another data point that might help is that if B says "yes I agree to
accept your cheque in full and final settlement of your debt". B is
not necessarily prevented from then suing A for the remainder of the
debt. Certainly B is not bound by a contract to that effect (although
in some circumstances there may be an estoppel).

Hi, in January this year i recieved a ccj from northampton court for a non paid credit card i had with hsbc. I am wondering if there is anything i can do to reduce the amount i owe them. I am moving house soon and considered trying to ignore them for 6 years, or offering them a reduced amount to pay the whole debt off. If i was to go with the second would i be best to miss a few payments and if...

Bankruptcy and keeping a job by
billy.lych@gmail.com
I believe the basic of law in Australia is similar to that in UK. I
was involved in a partnership which didn't go well for my personal
life. The partnership finally ceased. However, I recently found out
that the partnership owed the tax office some money. My partner is
planning to declare bankruptcy.
I'm currently employed with meager income. In the worst case that I
couldn't pay for the debt, I...

Quick question on fully comprehensive car insurance by
Tim S
Good afternoon...
Quick query, just so I'm primed for the phone call with the insurance
company tomorrow:
Today, a named driver on my fully comp. car policy accidentally dented the
sill and door panel by hitting a broken bit of fencing that was jutting out
next the entrance of a local car park. No-one else involved or at fault -
the broken fencing was just unlucky and not very visible hence...

Is it an offence to wear a Balaclava by
Alasdair
Is it an offence per se to wear a garment which covers your face in a
public place? If I put on a garment like a Balaclava with slits for
my eyes, nose and mouth and go into, say, a bank to carry out a
perfectly lawful transaction, can I be arrested because some of the
customers and staff may be scared?
Some banks and public offices have notices requiring visitors to
remove motorcycle helmets...
